New Tool Specimens / Hay Bales

Postby Kubius » Tue Jun 26, 2012 4:19 am

It seems kind of annoying to me that there's no axes between the Stone Axe and Battleaxe, and no simpler farm tools.
Below I list the ideas I've come up with.
(Tool grade means bronze, cast iron, wrought iron, or steel.)
-
Metal Axe - 2 bars of tool grade metal, 2 branches.
A nice, sturdy axe for everyday use. Less stamina expended while chopping trees and removing stumps, mines/chips stone slightly faster, quicker shearing/skinning/butchering, and of course more damage in combat.
-
Wooden Spade - 1 plank, 2 blocks of wood.
Uses both hands, works like the Shovel but not as effective. (Main point: only cuts stamina drain when plowing manually by 25%)
-
Gutting Hook - 1-2 nugget(s) of tool grade metal, 1 branch.
Used for butchering, significantly increases butchering speed.
-
Sickle - 4-6 nuggets of tool grade metal, 1 block of wood.
Acts like a scythe but can be wielded in one hand. Requires 2x2 inventory space.
-
Pitchfork - 1 bar of tool grade metal, 3 blocks of wood.
Harvesting wheat using this will leave straw on the end of the pitchfork. Also boosts unarmed damage slightly.
This fits in with Hay Bales, which are initially created using 10 straw. Right clicking a hay bale with straw (or just right clicking it when you have straw on a pitchfork) will add more and right clicking it with empty hands will take some off. It can hold a maximum of 50 straw. Finally, these hay bales can be used to feed livestock or just stacked for effect. (You can sit on them.)
-
Hay Bales: described above.
-
Damonkaninchen: rest in peace. Betrayed and attacked.

Many of these have been suggested before, just so you know.

Really 10 straw for a hay bale? More like 75-100 straw.

Just so you know, you can store 600 straw in a mansion signpost

Fact: there was no such thing as a hay bale until the 19th century when the straw baling machine was invented.

Would love a hay stack that you could add any amount of hay you wanted to, though.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Two-person tools that work like a boat (one person active, other passive) might be a nice idea. Only example I can think of though is a Two-person saw but their are probably some others.
