In a Hole in the Ground there Lived a Hobbit...

Been a while since I posted an idea seeming as the game is not in active development, but what the heck...

Building option - Hobbit Door.

- Can only be built on a visible cliff side.
- Basically a constructable cave entrance, but with a nice green door.
- Creates a similar amount of open space underground as a mine hole, only instead of a ladder you have a door going back outside.

For bonus points...

Wooden planks or parquet flooring as landscaping options. Uses up wooden boards.
Can be applied to mined out space to make it look nice. Because Bag End was comfortable.

Clever. Because finding a cave this late in a world is sad for new players. And getting into lvl 2 minehole requires work as always, but it shouldn't require the same work to get to lvl 1.

You wouldn't be able to mine from there as it's too close to an entrance. All it would do is provide a cozy underground home for you. =)

there would have to be some feature that would prevent you from building brick walls inside it, or blocking the enterance somehow.

Otherwise making a vault would be too easy

Similar to cave entrances, you wouldn't be able to build on tiles too close to the door. This prevents mining and building and instead you get a little hole in the wall where you can deposit goods. Maybe there could be a single tile that was just out of range of the build-distance which would allow you to construct cabinets and other objects, such as your hearthfire.

Maybe it could instead be like a regular house, just more compact.
Of another era.

This could have the same space as the log cabin but would have to use a pick to dig it out much like a cellar.
