It would be nice if we could have pets. Dogs could help in tracking criminals, could scent out things that you train them to. Would also be nice to just run around and do random stuff on your claim while you work.

I'd rather have a cat to take care of all the rats and frogs around my house.

These could be included with animal domestication. I think it would be pretty neat to use a hunting dog to help find game. Or better yet, to chase down animals which have run away. That, or herd dogs might be important for keeping cows and sheep from wandering away and de-spawning. Seems like there's a lot of potential here.
