Mass Graves - Gathering alts' corpses in raids

Postby Federico » Fri Jun 28, 2013 8:13 pm

Say you're trying to ram somebody, and when you're nearing the wall this shit happens:

Image

It's been posted that making bodies liftable, setting a limit on the amount of alts per account, connections per IP or a "spawn timer" will break more shit, get players mad and/or a bunch of other reasons while some raiders realize that "IT'S HAPPENING" after seeing a group of naked alts heading towards them.

How can it be fixed?
A 5x5 mass grave which automatically collects all the corpses of characters dying nearby (20~ tile radius) which have up to q12~ Undeveloped skulls or have below 1-5k LP. It would get rid of the alt army wanting to block your battering ram's path or some other "MLG PRO MOVES" people with double standards make.

Digging this requires characters with a shovel and takes a large amount of time to dig (10-60 minutes), can't be made within 30 tiles from another one and can be destroyed by dumping about half a dozen of boulders into it, turning the terrain it was into dirt.

Also killing a character which meets the grave's conditions and is nearby won't leave murder scents.

B-BUT MUH CHARACTER DIED AND THAT BLACK HOLE YOU SUGGESTED TOOK IT

You casually walked into a raid where alt spamming was taking place and lost a 30 minute hero. You should probably get good.

I'm against this suggestion and won't say why

List any flaws you've found so a polite discussion on how to fix them can take place.

This already has been suggested

Why do we still have alt spamming then?

Also, as a human being, I don't have the time (nor the will) to enter all possible search terms and look through hundreds of posts.

Overly complex.

Reposting this from the original thread before it got overrun by idiots bickering:

That's not bad actually.

This is obviously the solution, it is also unfortunately non-trivial to accomplish. It's fixed in Salem. :)

Can you explain exactly why? I've never understood why it's such a problem.

Just make a butcher skill that immediately turns a dead body into a skeleton. All equips from the dead character are lost (and don't worry about harvesting human meat or hides, that's just dumb), and then you can lift the skeleton out of the way.

What exactly is the logistical problem with a solution like this?

The butcher skill can be used to deny a corpse reclaim or even get an enemy character's high LP skull faster, it can be countered with making even more alts and would make the character lifting them vulnerable. Also you'd run out of place where to store the corpses if they're persistent enough.

The "no murder scents" is* to avoid the massive HHP loss on raiders. With butchering corpses you would have Murder, trespassing (butchering the body) and trespassing again (Lifting the body). Multiply that for every alt.

The actual mechanics behind the suggestion would be somewhat complicated, it needs tweaking. Gameplay wise you'd only need to take some time off to dig a hole in the ground and avoid worrying about alts.

This is also a grinding game, things like "burden of knowledge" (League "of the Ancients" term when something is too complex for the players) don't* really apply here.

Why not just make KO'd bodies liftable, and a way to push weak hearthlings around? Like push a plow through a clump of naked no lp alts, should bounce them around like a zombie movie getaway! 8-)
Hearthlings: Marona; Chamberlain (retainer alt), Vincavec (shaman of the Dryad Wells Forest)

You don't actually lose hhp for murdering someone so that no murder scent part doesn't really help. No assault scents would be nice though ;)

Because somebody can teleport away lifting a body of a developed character.

They'd just sent more alts / move them away and steal the plow, and a ram has to go through that. Alt spamming can and will go on for hours.

So Trespassing a claim drops your HHP by one but murdering doesn't? Didnt knew about that.
Still you'd leave scents from trying to "move" alts away.

By virtue of that you use alts to deter raids and sieges?
Weak argument. ;)

Butchering, while a neat idea in it's own right, would take time. Time that the 'defenders' could capitalize on by making three more alts in it's place. Destruction of the skeleton takes time too.

Raids are all about speed after all, and taking the time to properly prepare for it is a decent enough cost for a more time efficient way of clearing the way of hordes of alts
W3 to W6 - Blockland. Special mentions: New Avalon, Tarn of Hotdog, Red October.
W7 - Elvenia, til we all got lazy.
W8 - Cult of R'lyeh, til the deeps called us back.
W9 - Tartarus, til death/wizards came for the land itself.
W10 - ???, ruined and forgotten.

1. Make baby blue eyes not go away when you touch things (You can already touch a lot of things without it going away, and it doesn't do anything anyway)
2. Make corpses that died with baby blue eyes have no hitbox.
3. Make hearth fires of people with baby blue eyes have 10% of normal health.

1. would it be lp based instead?
3. how about no soak instead of less hp?
