Welp, IRL got busy and it hasn't really let up. On top of it all I have realized that I have much less time left than I thought to get my research finished. Given that I also have several other things on my plate, and most of the people I used to play with have quit, I just can't see myself coming back to haven for the time being. I will be declaiming my plot in Brodgar and leaving the key in the keep for the taking. Best of luck to the current LS and Chief.

It's been fun.

Well, I have kept my characters alive. Maybe in six months if the world is not reset I can hermit a bit and finally learn how to hunt.

For some reason it makes me feel a bit sad. What kind of research are you performing? Best of luck to you :)

Renovations and Reunions

Postby DemoGraFX » Thu Oct 24, 2013 7:39 am

Hello all, please allow me to introduce myself... Properly... Finally.

My name is Demo and I am the Lawspeaker of Brodgar, presently the city of lost hope. Some of you know me from trading, but most do not know me at all. I am a man of few words at most times, and my post count on the forums here is VERY low, if nonexistent. That does not mean that I haven't been on these forums every day though. As a Haven Hermit at heart, out of sight is out of mind and there is no better way to make yourself a target than to let people know that you even exist. Now is as good of a time as any, I suppose...

Brodgar has seen its better days, but I would like to announce that Brodgar is not officially dead. I have been quietly gathering materials and preparing for massive renovations to Brodgar, and the city is about to undergo some changes in philosophy and play style that will keep our residents more happy and safe within Haven in general. Hopefully we can bring back some of our former villagers who have moved on as well. Whether it be they moved on to safer villages or to being consumed by console games where you can hit "X" to respawn or pop up at a hospital when they die. After all, nobody enjoys dying in any game, especially one with permadeath. Unless you're one of the guys who gets his rocks off by starving every one of your alts to death clearing a massive wagon path along supergrid lines, but let's not get into my personal life just yet lol.

I know that it is late-game and that we may be subject to a world reset soon, but I still want to do my best with Brodgar and carry on where Yolan left off, but mixing safety and security with immigration in a way to build upon the principle of the city, but in a safe way. I would also like to give our residents the ability to actually build upon a character while being able to socialize and be a part of the city itself. After all, we all love Haven because it is a MMO. Otherwise you could do about the same by switching back and forth between the Sims, Sim City and Farmville without being ruthlessly invaded by the next guy coming along aiming a plunger handle at your sphincter. Ah, a life in Haven... Where's the lube?

The road before me is filled with a lot of work, trying to reinvigorate Brodgar and build not only a bunch of projects, but rebuild a member base and carry on a new Brodgar into the next world restart. I would humbly like to extend my hand and ask for any help that I can receive in trying to bring Brodgar back from the dead. Wallgrade Bricks, LowQ linen cloth, wallgrade wrought, wallgrade steel and/or soldier swords are in dire need for starters. I have nearly starved each of my characters to death multiple times trying to gather these things... Even the characters I actually want to keep... Therefore, any foodstuffs would also be accepted with open arms! Ok, enough panhandling.

To all Brodgar residents: Stay alive, look ahead. Hermit as necessary. Unfortunately I cannot offer any food or curiosities to help you with your temporary hermit, so I suggest making foraging and/or hunting alts who can take a B12 to the face without much undue stress to your colon. I am hoping to unveil my plans as soon as possible.

To all Brodgar non-residents: Brodgar immigration is currently closed, in theory. Obviously anybody with a vested interest can show up and take over a plot or start a new one, but Brodgar is unsafe in its current state and those looking to meet new people will be less than satisfied at the moment. Hearthlings rarely leave their homes and online time of village members is at an all-time low. We are working at building a safer community where people can experience the game as part of a group. Of course there will always be raiders and where there is a will there is a way, but my goal is to make it difficult enough for others to get in that they'd rather go after people outside of the city than to spend days camping rams and killing the alts that I bring 10 at a time to try to get a destroy hit on their ram!

At any rate, regardless of who you are or where you're from, enjoy the game and hopefully Brodgar will see brighter days very soon.

Anybody wishing to contact me can get a hold of me on Skype, demografx1000 is my username.

Great news. I am always happy to witness players with a penchant for leadership. I am sure I am not the only one glad to see that you have taken the reigns, Demo. With as thorough an introduction as this, I look forward to Brodgar's rekindling, towards the projects that you have in store for empowering the community and projects towards ensuring security. Fun, fun.

This is brilliant news! I'm so glad Brodgar hasn't just been left to rot. I'm also looking forward to hearing how you get on with the reformation.

Good luck Demo! :)
