maybe turn the archer into a DOT type class ? get to many arrows in ya and you start bleeding out and such

dot isnt bad idea either , though would hurt the hunting pretty badly..

I'm against this proposal. Archery doesn't require any skill other than two stupid clicks. Topic starter might as well have asked for "press fire to win" button. So I believe that its weakness is justified. I've seen many noobs who relied on mm just because they knew nothing about combat and were not willing to learn.
Pls lrn2combat, PvP isn't about twitch-hunting with a sling.

well if you look at 99% of any other game that is out there you have the option to be several diffrent roles. not everyone wants to play a brawler and if archer is useless that would indicate something is broken and should be fixed

for example you could leave the basic attack archers have alone and unchanged. just does basic damage so hunting would be unchanged.

you could add in other attacks like poison which would poison the target and deal damage over time.
you could even add in extra crafts for making poisoned items or even poisoned B12 blades :3

or an attack that wounds the target and reduces a stat maybe run speed. a wounded target wouldn't be able to sprint for a given duration.



as for the issue of sniping. 1 don't make yourself a target of opportunity. don't afk outside build a wall so they cant see you. don't afk.

sniping is a very effective means of combat its intended to be effective and demoralizing that's the point.

what if ur not afking outside but enemy has something like q180 rbow / 250 mm its pretty much insta kill to lower lvl person whom doesnt notice the enemy straight away ( not all play with customized clients with enemy alert )

and i think the walls are still bit underpowered ( due archery ) you would need to make 350x350 outerwall to have safe spot inside ( well enemy just has good str and sledge hammer lol ) still they get to arrow you down..

While I do agree that newer players can be killed quite easily with archery, I think that the OP was complaining that archery was not suited for higher level use, like when battling armored players.

well fix the walls and there wouldnt be cry for snipers lol.. its not that complicated , all the sniper raiders are now trying to counter the idea.. for sure..

but personally i think walls are bullshit in the game at the moment...

there is a maximum view distance.

more often than not a random ranger isnt going to bash a palisade just to snipe a unarmored farmer. if he does hes dedicated to environmental protection.
