Reducing the cost of Porcelain Dolls

Postby Xcom » Wed Nov 13, 2013 4:32 pm

The porcelain doll is a great curio except its damn overpriced. Making bone clay is somewhat a chore and having to put 4 of them into 1 curio is just a bit to much.

Would it be possible to reduce the amount of bone clay porcelain doll would need. Maybe down to 2 or even 1. They could just as well need other added ingredients as in return for the reduced cost. Currently they are just not worth the effort.

Just reducing the cost of the bone clay might make it to good but compared to abacus it still isn't to overpowered. But the abacus isn't that expensive compared to the porcelain doll and still is on equal or even slightly better curio.

Agreed, by decreasing the cost it could be a good lower tier curio for the nabs.

Also agreed, the process involved in producing four bone clay does make it a chore and I only ever make them when I have an excess of the materials and some spare time.

They are pretty though. :D

I met different players in early stage of development complaining about the masses of bones they got and the storage "problem" it caused for them - most of them where making boneglue and where astonished when i suggested making bone clay for plates and dolls ... and high tiers prolly have no problems having loads of high q bones ;)

but i think lowering the dolls down to 2 boneclay won't be bad

If they cost 1 bone clay I would see myself making a bulk stock of them. But with 4 it just makes porcelain dolls a redundant curio you make for shits and giggles. The LP per hour per slot comes out lower then most high end curios so they are more or less useful if they had a lower price.

Feels like even 2 bone clay is to much. But that's just my opinion.

That reminds me of my chest chessboard last year, it had been so long since i'd made one I forgot they took up four spaces, I wasted over an hour of my time and two people I met outside, boating around looking for sand only to make one and realise it didn't fit.

(Sorry Baaacccooonnn - )

I think two bone clay is fair and reasonable, maybe you could just replace the other two with the raw cave clay.

I agree the material cost is to high for the results.
