There is no other Brodgar. As Nooby rightfully pointed out, the other city that tried to reestablish is no longer attempting. Further, I would say that they were never really attempting. They were a pseudo-village.
Brodgar, at least as I see it, is about the freedom of people to join and leave at will. Very much that "open" aspect that sadly makes it very dangerous. It is a place where players more interested in socializing or being around others can really
get invested Haven.
I ask that people do not prey on the players here. If they feel that they must rob, I ask that they do not kill or grief them.
Time will tell if there can be a gentleman's agreement that will allow that peace to be upheld to any degree. I have my optimistic hopes, or I would not be doing this - You seem to not.
I would like to point out that Brodgar currently IS fully established and is VERY active with our core members.
I would also like to take this time to point out that there is truth to the postings of both ramones AND nooby...
Brodgar IS still going to be helping new players, but we are NOT going to be an open city and we will NOT be bringing new players into our village proper.
We WILL be accepting locals into our vast network of authority and travel though, anybody is welcome to be near us as long as they are not hostile. Again, this hasn't been my decision and my decision alone. We have been inviting characters into our village slowly to weed out the ones who are not trustworthy. I would MUCH rather have a handful of trustworthy folks here with me than a hundred that make me wonder which 20+ of them are stealing from my friends.
Best thing that the new players can do? Stay AWAY from Brodgar. Find friends on the forums. Obviously some are good and some are not. Associate yourselves with Kakarot's "Global Newbie Network" and with villagers from OUR Brodgar and places like Emerald City. Be careful about meeting your neighbors and letting them know where you live. Most importantly, make yourselves look like it's pointless to raid you but difficult at the same time and stay away from areas that are more populated and/or disputed. If you see a lot of claims near you, go somewhere else.
As for the topic, Brodgar IS its villagers. We here are the remainder of the core of Brodgar, mostly, and what made the city stay a city. What took on the city after nobody wanted to play there any longer. Have you even SEEN Old Brodgar??? Why the hell would you want to do that again in a different place? People fighting their own people for resources as simple as trees because that many people in one place is destined for failure, especially open and undefended.
If you want to relive the mistakes of the past, go ahead. But I ask you to name it something different and be creative. We are Brodgar, no matter what anybody says about Brodgar being a philosophy, Brodgar IS its members. The philosophy of a village can change and the ways they help characters can change without being a different village. Just a smarter village. A village who isn't willing to accept a "new player" that really is an old <Insert faction> player looking for a way inside of our village so they can break the things we have worked hard to obtain. I have put too much work into Brodgar to allow compromise of those things.
I'm sorry that some of the community is upset that Brodgar has not opened. People will simply have to understand that a group's judgment may be clouded and manipulated by a sense of charity and desire to keep people safe. That desire completely compromises the safety of the other members and would one day lead to Brodgar being raided from the inside out.
At any rate, that will be all. Public spawners will be placed eventually to let people know to settle near where our authority runs. Other than that, good luck with your project.
