On the subject of Brodgar, I feel like me and Yolan did Brodgar too early in the game for it to be any success. If it was given time to get into late game, the city of Brodgar wouldn't be seen as a threat from an outsider as a massive amount of people were settling in. Brodgar is only good when people are that bored with the game and choose to defend it from attackers. It brought people to grief last world and punch newbies but then people would come after them seeking a fight.

Demo, no offense, but there is a reason why Yolan named it "Brodgar" in the first place. (not saying i know him well)
if you, the core members of the old Brodgar, decided to change the previous rules, its just fine and i, many others too i bet, understand, but i understand more why some people like Robben want the original spirit back and the name Brodgar, to call it New Brodgar, and you have no right to tell them not to. it is nice that you got good villagers, but that is because yolan had the original rule of open city for you guys then and you all gathered, isnt it?
im not denying your work and efforts, demo. but you are denying the original spirit. its ofc okay you decided to deny it, but remember how you became who you are in game now. it was a challenge no matter how retarded it looks to you now, and you gave up on it, but Robben hasnt. (i gave up long time ago in w3, and i respect those who havent given it up yet, because of the work and efforts it requires.)

btw, i see new players every now and then in global, quite a few nice folks often chatting and helping out without wanting/needing some reputations like GNN or emerald, but it is nothing new really... after all, some players have always been helping newbs (just as some others have always been raiding them) and dont even think its something you need to shout about or give its name to. just because all you see is your own dozen alts and fucktards like joco, it doesnt mean this world is filled with them only.

There is no other Brodgar. As Nooby rightfully pointed out, the other city that tried to reestablish is no longer attempting. Further, I would say that they were never really attempting. They were a pseudo-village.
Brodgar, at least as I see it, is about the freedom of people to join and leave at will. Very much that "open" aspect that sadly makes it very dangerous. It is a place where players more interested in socializing or being around others can really get invested Haven.

I ask that people do not prey on the players here. If they feel that they must rob, I ask that they do not kill or grief them.

Time will tell if there can be a gentleman's agreement that will allow that peace to be upheld to any degree. I have my optimistic hopes, or I would not be doing this - You seem to not.

How can you be so optimistic after what happened to old Brodgar?
The place is a cemetery, a deadly trap for newbies who start and think "oh and open village, I bet I will be safer there with other people to give me a hand".
You should place a big warning sign in any recruiting posts you make.

Thousands of tiles have been paved over, numerous avenues and plots prepared, the idol breaths fire with life and hope. The forest, swamps, and fields await the new migrants.

Expect opening this Saturday.

Good for you!

I'm glad the original spirit of Brodgar will live on and it's great that you refuse to be discouraged by peoples comments, so long as those joining are aware of the risks I don't see the problem with it.

It's a shame Demo decided to completely change what Brodgar stands for and you have every right to use the name, as Tonky said, you are the one following the original idea and therefore earn the rights to it.

I wish you all the best and look forward to hearing all about it as people start to join you.

Go New Brodgar! :D

Over and over again i see the words "original spirit of Brodgar". Do any of you even know what that really mean? I am thinking you might want to go back a little ways to W2 when this village was founded. Yes it was open in those days and has remained that way because the village as a whole decided to keep it that way. The "original spirit of Brodgar" was to have a group of players that voted and decided together the direction of the village. Which is exactly what happens in Brodgar. The reason the city proper has been closed is because the people of the one and true Brodgar have decided that is how it is going to be. We are still and forever will be dedicated to helping new players learn and in enjoy the game. If we are weak we can not do that. If we are weak we can offer nothing but the pain and suffering that has lead to so many of our villagers quitting the game all together. Brodgar still exist and is stronger than ever. Brodgar is open just not in the way that has made her weak in the past. The true spirit lives on in the villagers good will. I am the chieftain of Brodgar and have contacted every player that has showed interest in joining to offer support. Everyone in this village is more than willing to help if asked but I will be the first to publicly say there is and always will be ONE Brodgar and it lies right here with us. ~ Thaceris ~

Mindless dribble. From what i can see, you all want a new deathtrap for new characters. The REAL brodgar is a SAFE place where people can EARN opportunity to live within.

Brodgar wasn't a village, Thaceris. It was a central meeting area, a spawn point, for all the players in the world. It also became quickly renown for delivering a quick death to those that lingered, but people still returned to meet other players. It was a different time.

Your support for your Lawspeaker and village is admirable, however misguided. The only thing that New Brodgar and your "Brodgar" will have in common is a shared name. Good luck to you and yours.

Robben is a great guy and was leading the small newb learning base we set up for a short while, where he supported the players and helped the town progress. he has always wanted to do this brodgar project and I think he'd really push for it to work.

theres many issues with brodgar and it really goes against most of the advice I would give to anyone setting up a town, but that's what makes it unique, and it's always larger in numbers and you mix potentially with people u wouldn't really get to meet and maybe then and tony pointed out you have the opportunity to move off and do ur own thing with others u meet and establish ur own towns etc.

this game is dull when it lacks people to support you and play alongside you. I hermitted a long while in world 4 and if it wasn't for those players and villagers around I'd have probably not stuck around.

I do wish people wouldn't just simply find it fun and amusing to destroy a project like this, although I am sure many will, just for the sake of being able to do it.

good luck with it:)
