This game offers plenty as well as "permanent" loss, so I have an idea.
A few writers will be "Story Keepers" who write stories about the events that actually take place in the game, a sort of fact/fantasy. Kingdoms rise and fall, drama occurs between people, it would also encourage roleplaying.
The Story Keepers would record the events as best they can from their areas of the world and convert the events into a novel format. This will not always come out with an actual novel but look at it this way.
We want this game to stay free, but we also want it to remain up, and continue to grow - Publishing Novels based on the actual events occuring within a game, that has permanent changes available is, quite simply, Unprecedented.
The revenue made from publish the stories could be shared to varying degrees amongst those who have taken a role in the novel - But remember people, have FUN. and this won't be a way to make an income, not for players, not for the writers.
The players get acting experience - You can use that in resumes and get contacts within the acting community aswell as develop a portfolio
The writers develop their portfolio and become more well known in the world, this means that they are much more likely to publish their own stories down the line.
The developers of the game receive a suitable income possibly enough to keep the game running well.
So what does everyone think? I have been sitting on this concept for YEARS. I was planning to develop my own game to base this on but Haven and Hearth has come before.
REMEMBER people, we wouldnt be the only people buying these novels, and this idea - which is MINE (greedy) would catch on like wildfire and haven and hearth will grow in popularity, as well as the novels and anyone involved from the beginning.
