Handcuffs

And not the fun kind.

Err, I mean. - Instead of killing players, there should be handcuffs and jails, where players can lack prisoners up until their trial. Instead of just butchering people we find who committed crimes. Handcuffs would make it so players remain logged in even if they logout so that trials can be held, and any punishment resulting from said trial can occur.

Of course, people COULD abuse this function. but people could also break out, breaking free of shackles would leave a scent but all the player who's been shackled has to do is find where theyve been attacked by the "griefer" hope hes offline, summon him and return the favor.

There could be different types of shackles with different strengths.

Bone Shackles, and by that, I mean they drive a spike through the bone and lock it. Watch 'em try to get out of that!

That sounds more like a punishment after trial, for thieves - injure their hands so that they have to wear gauzze for several hours until they repair - unable to lift or use their hands in any way ;p

Which in turn, would stop them from stealing ;D Maybe for like a week, if they do steal afterwards, they take damage.

eh.. i think i would settle for being able to tie unconcious people up with rope to prevent them from becoming active again for awhile [10 minutes] and allowing us to transport unconcious people... maybe in carts / lifting them.
Then we can put them in prison if you want ect.

Exactly, this way we can be less barbaric, by just killing people. :)

I am in favor of some kind of equipment that can let people do this, but it needs to be looked at carefully. Being able to take freedom away from players is a tricky business that could end up being a really negative feature. Consider, for example, that anything implemented can be used by anybody...

However, given that this is a perma-kill game, being tied up/punished may well be preferable to most to being killed.

Jorb and I do not find this idea entirely unconvincing, so it may come along sooner or later. :)

However, since you seem to be planning on knocking them anyway, couldn't you just initiate a fight with them (to prevent them from logging out), and then simply order them to come along "or else"?

true.. but they could simply choose to die rather then obey us.. while sometimes you like in real life to force people to live and not have the option of dieing.... ie.. jail.
