grass bed thing not logging me off

i've been suffering a bug with the grass... bed... thing... its name escapes me atm.
it's the first bed you ever build. the first time i went to sleep, i got logged off, which i assume is the reason the bed exists. according to the wiki, it's also to remove travel weariness.
my point is, the first two times i used the bed were before i logged off. i used the bed and got logged off automatically, which, i assume, is how the bed works in its proper working state.
how my bed works now is it creates a copy of me that sleeps, while the other copy stands on top of the sleeping copy, being stuck.
i can open various menus like the inventory or or skill or whatever, but i can't do anything. i can't log out, but i CAN quit. i also can't craft, i think that's because i'm logged out at this strange... meta...something stage. i suspect the server considers me logged out, but for whatever reason the client is still in game, like some sort of... schrodinger's character type thing... both logged in and out at the same time, until properly observed by someone of authority.

my point of this rant?
someone come fix my bed making! i've tried making another bed and this demonry has showed itself on that one aswell!

The behaviour of bed is known - you can act with client windows but the server's got the message that you're logging off: "Sleep" - that's why you can't move anymore. One hint is to click on bed and choose "Sleep" but then do a step back - that way the bed get's empty and then you click on empty bed again for "Sleep" to log off

that's stuff you do in client only but it's not connected with the server anymore

If I log back in, then use the bed again while already on it, it always logs out properly. But just closing the window when it locks up seems to work, too.
