Hunger

Postby holychicken » Sat Jun 20, 2009 9:22 pm

Is it just me or do you get hungry way too fast? I spent today cooking bread, raisin bread and honey. I had a field right next to me, I started with a ton of raisins and butter, and flour. I spent a few hours it seems just baking bread in four ovens. However, I feel like I am eating probably like 30-40% of what I make and that is starting WITH a bunch of stuff already set for me to cook with. I feel like I am forever chained into the kitchen. Seriously, I even removed my shoes for effect.

Is this by design? Am I missing something?

This has been brought up many times. I don't think they're going to change it.

In fact,we probably will adjust this, as we have ourselves made this observation.

Good, cause I think its pretty unrealistic to be able to eat 50 apples in one sitting, and 5 whole loafs of bread.

Fifty apples?

Five loaves of bread?

How about an entire freaking bear!?

If you get pretty deep into Very Hungry, you can apparently eat an entire bear's worth of salamis and still be hungry. (Note this is secondhand information so I could be entirely wrong.)

Personally, I don't have that much of a problem with the abstraction and the strangeness like that that crops up with it. It does seem that the trip from field to edible does cost a little too much in the way of hunger (whether the labor's split between several people or not; they're still going to wind up eating the same amount amongst all of them, unless I'm just not thinking it through.)

I usually do my baking when I need Perception, though, so having to eat 40% of what I make is actually fine by me. I can see where it'd hurt people trying to stockpile, though. Glad it's being looked at.

While you can make countless more threads about this i'd suggest you exploit it while you can.
And yeah, you can eat tons when you're into the dark red bar. It seems food requirements rise as the bar goes down. If you keep your food level in the green you won't need as much food.

The faster we get hungry, the faster we raise our attributes.

I see how this is good if you just want to grind your attributes up. . . but sometimes I like a change of pace and, if I want to go out hunting instead of baking, I have to bring pretty much an entire bag worth of food with me if I plan to be out for more than a couple of minutes. The problem with this is that I then have no room in my already tiny bag for collecting the meat/skins/bones(well, not even bones as I just leave them now) of my kills. I guess I could bring a cart, but the length of time it would take me to drag the cart there and back would require me filling two carts slots with food.

Hooray!
And also, I feel like stat increase could be a bit slower. Less hunger would lead to that as well.

You're lying. You only need food if you run. Walking doesn't cost stamina.
If you know you're going to hunt something you won't find right away then take some food with you..But i usually just take 3 sausages with me. If i hunt foxes i usually eat those just when i kill my last fox. If i feel i need more stats i run all the time.
