Duels

This could be an idea to allow player vs player combat without the dangers of death or battery clues.

You can challenge another player to a duel, and if they accept, the battle will start. HHP damage and battery clue dropping is disabled for the duel, and the duel is over when one (or both?) person(s) are knocked out. The winner is given a token amount of LP (barely enough to justify SHP damage). I could see this mostly being one civilized manner of settling a dispute, or even honing your own combat skills without the danger of HHP damage or someone snagging some battery clues.

Of course, this would open the road for "To the death" duels later on, if people want such a thing. :P

Yes, I've also wanted this feature for a long time. It's just very unclear how it should be implemented in practice. All techniques of implementation that I've been able to think of so far have had lots of weird or disturbing edge cases that I don't want to deal with.

I think sparing could work like this:
FIrst person right clicks and selects "request spare" or something.
The second person has a pop-up like a party invite.
As they fight, no hard damage is done, and you can't attack while they're fainted.
There would be a "leave sparing match" button.

Also, more than two people should be able to be in a sparing match. Village vs. village sparing matches would be cool.

Ok, I decided to bump this because I saw it was coming up again and again. I think there definitely should be a sparring/dueling system ingame, and I want to bring it to the devs' attention again. I think we could take it a step further than Lare suggested and simply make it a part of parties. It would be pretty neat if you couldn't deal permanent damage to party members. It could be used for sparring, and it would make hunting interesting  . Tell me what you guys think.

This would also be cool, because it allows us to hold mock battles with entire villages, you know, like a contest. And there could be like a prize for the village that wins.

I think this could lead to arena's ;D
That'd be awesome. Massive stone building that a city builds to hold fights.
