i was kinda wondering why perception was used in calculating the damage. shouldn't your perception be your ability to aim?

I think perception should be used to determine how fast you aim. marksmanship should be used in the damage modification calculation against agility.

I was also thinking that perhaps the 2 bows should use strength as a limiting factor. if you have ever used a bow in real life you know they have different draw strengths. Long bows can be very hard to pull back all the way. Perhaps the Q of the bow you are using could be limited to half your strength? eg.... you have 200 strength so you can use a q 100 bow to its fullest. whereas if you had 100 modified strength and a 100 q bow you would be using a effective bow of q 50? This probably shouldn't affect the sling though.

In general i think all the ranged weapons need a reduction in damage.

Also, when you shoot a player, I thought you had mentioned that there would be an indication someone was shooting at you so that you could run away. I got a nooby alt to shoot me with a sling from behind a tree. I had no indication that I was being shot at until I was already hit. I kinda like it like this, but if the current damage these ranged weapons deal its kinda scary knowing that despite having 800ish HP and armour on that some alt somone made in 3 days can 1 hit you at anytime if you stop moving.

OK, you got the data on Crepe Citrouille. Pommace Perdue is 2 agi, 3 per and 1 cha, and Sacrebleu is 2 agi, 3 int and 1 cha.

So all of them are effectively useless. Good to know.

I'm trying to shoot a penned up level X boar with a q18 bow and a quiver containing 40 q10 arrows. I have marksman 26.

The problem is the aiming. Is that bar meant to fill up so slowly??? Or is the problem the lag?

Basically the first time it took about two minutes to get to the green and I hit the beastie. The second time after about two minutes of waiting until it hit the green I think I missed. Anyway, there was no blood. The next time it took about four minutes to get to the green, it looked like I shot with two arrows and there was blood again. Since then....

Fifteen minutes of watching my monitor, checking the forum, flipping through a magazine, putting the kettle on to make tea.... and it is now working its way up through the yellow!

If this is not a lag problem the system is way, way, way, way, way too cumbersome. It's probably realistic that hunting should take a long time to get a good shot in, but not when the boar is penned up between eight fires. (I did the corners just to make super certain he shouldn't escape.)

In the time it took to write this post the can-you-hit-it meter has gone from yellow to the faintest tinge of green.

I think a round or two of solitaire may be in order before I actually release the bow string!

You really think you should be able to effortlessly kill level X boars with marksman skill of 26?

I really think I should be able to MISS hitting level X boars with lvl 26 marksman. I would be quite happy if I was able to get the shots off and lost all my arrows and had to slink away unsuccessful. It's the not being able to fire because I am still aiming that is the problem. It's more a game than a realism issue. I think I might be able to have a 50/50 chance of killing him if I am patient and if the server doesn't crash but at this rate with 35 arrows left to go... It's going to take five hours rl time!

i think you should try using a sling instead if your marksmanship is that low.

I'm now able to begin aiming my sixth arrow...
8:16 to 8:36 to fire one arrow?

That's twenty minutes an arrow.

I'll definitely be experimenting with a sling. I think that this makes things quite hard on noobies who want to hunt and it's not a fun way of playing.

I really, really hope the problem here is lag!

EDIT: The problem was lag. From Haba's answer I thought he was telling me that fifteen and twenty minute waits to aim a single arrow was the way it was supposed to work at my skill level, and once I got up to higher Marksman skills the wait would begin to get shorter. But three boars are now pork steak, and when the system works it might take me a minute and a half, per shot.

It's worth noting that I killed that first level X boar in 8 shots, so level 26 marksman is sufficient. As others have noted, the arrows do much more damage now.

Playing with a sling is going to be fun!

The new shift+mousewheel feature is nice but when removing seeds from bags, it removes them from lowest quality to highest. Which means planting crops still has to be done one seed at a time if I don't want to discard the lower quality seeds (for making bread, whatever). I don't now about everyone else but I'd rather have the best items put in containers and the best taken out.

You would be highly surprised by the things that don't kill people and the things that do.
