To balance vandalism

While many objects would simply be able to be destroyed by hand or by weapon, others taking a very very long time.

I believe that stronger structures and objects such as chests should not be destructible by hand.

Introducing, SEIGE MACHINES! Slow moving structures available only to towns people requiring roughly just as many materials as a town totem - Wide and unable to cross clay or swamp - This would make constructing roads or bridges towards enemy fortresses a real tactical goal. And heres the REAL kicker

Seige machines should only be constructible within the confines of the town claim - meaning you'd have to haul this HUGE machine, and keep it guarded in order to infiltrated and destroy enemy areas.

I believe this may make things interesting - No simple griefers could ever achieve such an accomplishment

That sounds pretty reasonable, though historically siege machines where built on-site rather than at home. I think it's reasonable that they can't be moved.

Or, make it be made of several large parts that have to be carried. Say, six chunks of siege engine. Then the attackers would need to bring two carts full of parts.
Then make the completed siege engine itself utterly immobile.
Surprise.

Personally, I'm all for updates bringing you one step closer to razing a town, stealing their goods and killing the inhabitants. I'm going to be completely happy when this is possible one day.

Agreed. Razing towns will be a strong part of social development of H&H. but allowing just any tom dick and harry who grind LP to just pop in and do it is insane. That's why it should be town members only.

I'd disagree, though it should be a very hard thing to do. Things like theft (even on a larger scale) or killing are too easy to do as well, imo.

catapaults take multiple people to operate (currently no-one can pick up a boulder on their own) and are wildly inaccurate.

Constructable on site, and then movable at the crawling pace (but not through forest, swamp or water)

require a large amount of logs and blocks, possibly some metal and rope.

Require a siege mechanics skill which comes off the basic mechanics skill and costs about 20k

One direct hit from a boulder should be enough to smash a log cabin to pieces.

I don't see it as a good idea for the short term though. I'd want about 50-100 concurrently players average before implementing something like this so that the settlements can actually have around the clock patrols etc without damaging anyone's personal life too severely.

Apart from those notes I think it's a great idea
