Game Development: Pigeon Rock

Postby jorb » Sun Sep 06, 2020 7:48 pm

We've been developing, and here's what's new.

Image

New Implementations
-----------------------
  • Added "Rock Dove", bird. "Pigeon" to you normies. In b4 jokes about bird patch, with the observation that there is a slightly bigger plan in the works here. Stay tuned.

Key Fixes
-----------------------
  • Fixed a bug, reported here and here causing collapsing wall cascades to not propagate east-west.
  • You may now carry knocked out animals, fixing problems with them being used to block stuff.
  • Moving the Claim Pole of a Private Claim by constructing a new one now gives the claim a new activation timer, as if it were newly built, making it vulnerable to destruction.
  • Village Claims no longer linger 8hrs after the destruction of the Village Idol, but rather are removed instantly.
  • Hand-bashing palisades should now, again, cause cascade damage consistent with other forms of wall destruction.

Small Fixes
-----------------------
  • Mounts can no longer be ridden into dungeons, preventing various problems with boats ending up in beaver dams, and the like.

As always, if you liked what we did here: Support the patch.

Today's Patch Items, for the fair price of $9 is the "Crooked Stovepipe"

Store Description wrote:Image$9 Ashen grey with soot, reminiscent of a foul rite conducted by strange moonlight, with the planets aligned.

All Gold subscribers have been awarded the "Crooked Stovepipe". free of charge.

In the Pipe
-----------------------
  • Again urging any custom client maker who wishes to stay relevant to get with the new rendering times. Support for the old resources will be dropped at some point.
  • An update to the server-client protocol is the next project in the pipe. It is a relatively limited scope project to allow for better definitions of objects in relation to other objects (E.g. bubbling retort standing on lit tripod burner with variable materials, standing on an Alchemist's table. That kind of stuff). One upside is that it could allow us to add variable materials to tools and equipment. This is necessary for the next project after, namely Object Controlled Objects, which we consider the next major milestone in development.

If you want to post about your own siege-related bugs/issues, please feel free to. In the meantime, we'll go on fixing stuff that doesn't work as intended, regardless of who tipped us off about it.

Or are you telling us that knocked-out cows being used to block people should remain as an intended mechanic?

New birb has no feathers. Are they not 100% spawning them, or you forgot to add them?
