Game Development: Pelican Pool

Postby jorb » Sun May 02, 2021 11:26 pm

We've been developing, and here's what's new.

Image

New Implementations
-----------------------
  • It really has been too long, thus: Added "Pelican"s, ocean birbs, spawning in small flocks on or near oceans.
  • Added "Fossil Lapel Pin", gilding.
  • Added "Adder Brooch", gilding.

Key Fixes
-----------------------
  • The recently much maligned "global pools", controlling the distribution of certain herb spawns, have been reworked, and such herb spawns should now in general be more available. I shall not belabor the details of the new regime. Try it out!
  • Realms may now challenge the Thingwall in the province containing their Coronation Stone during every Thingwall challenge window. We couldn't think of a way to communicate this challenge timer exception well ingame, and it's a bit of an edge case, so you'll have to keep track yourselves for now, but, again: Realms may challenge for control of the Thingwall in their Coronation Stone province at any time when Thingwalls are possible to challenge.
  • Whenever you enter an Action Menu submenu using the scripted hotkeys, the hotkeys for all actions under that menu are shown over the icon, making it hopefully somewhat simpler to browse around without having to use the mouse.
  • Fixed a problem with the sound buffer being overloaded, causing the client to lag, especially in crowded scenes. Affected heavy pvp-scenes (lots of footstep sounds) in particular.

Small Fixes
-----------------------
  • "Bog Turtle"s no longer give an additional "Bone Material" when butchered, and thus only give their shells as bone materials.
  • "Starfish" can now be placed in "Creel"s.
  • Fixed a bug by which "Roast Crab" presented only as "Crab" in the satiation list.
  • Redrew the "Emotes" icon in the Action Menu in larger scale.
  • Greatly reduced the "Lye" cost required for "Soap Clay". Suggested here.
  • "Meat in Jelly" now unlocks with "Hunting", rather than "Mining". Artifact from when cave jelly was the only gellant available. Reported somewhere.

As always, if you liked what we did here: Support the patch.

Today's Patch Item, for the fair price of $9, is the "Nightwatchman's Top".

Store Description wrote:Image$9 Another night on the beat, to keep the good citizens of the Hearth safe, and to protect and serve.

All Gold subscribers have been awarded the "Nightwatchman's Top", free of charge.

In the Pipe
-----------------------
  • Again urging any custom client maker who wishes to stay relevant to get with the new rendering times. Support for the old resources will be dropped at some point.
  • Our primary development direction is toward object-controlled-objects.

Enjoy!

Could you explain how the old pools actually worked like?
I'm sure that many people would be curious to know that.
