im talking about using a little dev time to add those features and saying there is obviously a market for it so why shouldnt the devs capture it. wtf are you on about copyright shit? you dont think loftar could code similar shit to what is out there?
I'm not pretending anything. Just because they are breaking copyright law doesn't mean that the devs will enforce that law. Nor does it make it right.
Risk of exposure is something that any dev has to take into consideration. Does it mean that someone will file a claim, even if false or frivolous? No, but it is a possibility.
Disregarding all copyright issues that could arise from making the change you are suggesting let's look solely at maintaining two distinct client source codes.
One open source client free for all to use and modify. It is maintained as much as the devs feel is necessary for the game to function, currently Adding a second client with a paywall for what you are suggesting would be cumbersome if even possible at all. A paywall in an open source client would simply be snipped of any checks for payment and any checks that are made would add latency to the game.
I would love to see more features. I would love to see the devs and this game thrive.
This is, imo, not how that is accomplished.
And if you've never received a legal notice for something that you have developed, maintained, modified, or what-have-you then good for you. But if you have and the law couldn't find you... Maybe you know what I'm getting at...
