they could've made more money by selling it with a single-player option.
I mean look at minecraft, both games are similar, except minecraft is for kids and this game is for people stuck in 2010.

Same thing, personal version of this game and modding would take it much further :D

+1 to this suggestion.
To the people saying make late game not be as ass instead of doing shorter wipe seasons, all I have to say to that is that the devs have yet to come even remotely close to implementing a satisfying late game. Until we get one, I fully believe that this game would benefit from shorter wipe cycles. Maybe not every 3 months (I would be very very VERY happy with a wipe every 3 months btw) but every 6 months at most. 6 months into a world and you're left with the hardcore dregs who will never leave, and they're the sorts of players that will always come back after wipes too.
I've always held the belief that H&H is waaaaaaay too late on when it wipes the game for what it is. Often times we have well over half a year of double digit players as the only remaining players, and like I said in a previous post I'd wager that a good chunk of those we see online are alts and bots so the number is even worse than it looks and it already looks bad.
It's just not worth keeping the world going for that sort of length of time for such few players (who I'm certain would want a wipe just like the rest of us too).

There's a serious lack of trying new things. Some people say a 3 month wipe cycle will be bad. Really? You honestly think it'll be worse than the shit we currently have to deal with? Because I'll be happy to put my money where my mouth is on this one, a 3 month wipe cycle would continually bring in the large number of players we see during our current wipes. I'd like to at LEAST see it be tried. You can't know if it's a bad idea until you try it. Try it, if it's a disaster, scrap it, go up to 6 month wipe cycles. 6 month seems like the ultimate middle ground IMO. I refuse to believe that if the server was on a 6 month wipe cycle that people would complain about that saying it's too short.

J&L, if you're actually reading this (you're not), at least consider giving a 6 month wipe cycle a go for 2-3 worlds. There's literally no downsides unlike how things are now. There's just not enough to do ingame to justify the world being as long as it is. It's nothing but the worst part of the quality grind 3+ months in which is when the lionshare of the playerbase drop the game and wait for the next world (which means they're all waiting for at minimum 9+ months).

I am willing to no life 1 month out of 12 not sure how much I would bother playing if worlds were 3 months.

Persistent Survival PVP MMOs always have this issue, the best part is beating/racing your neighbours in the tech tree (not necessarily in Quality). You could for sure have fast cycles however I still think yearly resets are the healthiest for the player base and development, much like us the devs also likely get burnt out, giving them deadlines will likely mess with they passion in the game and turn it into a job.

Really I think when it comes down to it. most of the player base just want some no strict estimates on reset dates so we the players can plan ahead somewhat.

I would still prefer Haven to be a forever lasting world but this is impossible if the game wants to stay alive. Maybe with clever game play mechanics/features they can prolong the player count drop off but its doubtful. So in the mean time the best we can hope for is more communication from the devs about new world developments and plans to keep us playing, its of course sad that patches drop off 6+ months into a world (I hope due to shifting to new world development) which doesn't help in community morale, Imagine how frustrating it would be if Project Zomboid never posted a thursdoid about Build 42..
