I invited a friend from another game to play Haven once. We sparred / practiced chasing for about 2-3 hours in a small group. I doubt he'd be the MVP vs. the major PVP groups, but he could definitely participate comfortably in "faction level fights".

I can tell just watching them move on the dev streams neither Jorb or Loftar could stay upright for more then a few minutes if they're outnumbered in a real fight. I'unno about you, but if making a PVP game were my passion project for 15 years I'd like to think nobody who's played for 3 hours could curbstomp me.

Not to be a DEBBIE DOWNER, but regardless of how much they enjoy development I don't think their process is rly good enough to have great results as above exemplifies. You need to be able to understand something at least at a basic level to improve it beyond a certain point.

Imagine unironically thinking that Haven is designed to be a competitive PvP game.
I use thinking very loosely, of course. Sort of like how apes or chimpanzees think.

I am sure if they were trained, they could post on forums too.

EvE Online is an MMORPG where there is minimal skill expression in the actual gameplay. Although there are *some* situations where you can use game knowledge and execution to get an upperhand, it's primarily about setting traps, taking advantage of unprepared enemies, or organizing people and directing people. One could say that the *skill* is the people skill - Diplomacy, leadership, and battle command (calling targets and organizing movement and retreat.)

All the highest stakes factions fights come down to is pressing F1 and Alt+F1, Alt+F2, and Alt+F3 as necessary and told.
It has of course made billions of dollars over its lifespan.

But we've got disabled people like above poster who think that their extremely myopic view of the world is the only thing that's valid (common issue with the autistics, tbh), and they think that the devs need be to pro pvpers so they can fix feasting (to make it more braindead, suitable for their tastes) and make PvP more hardcore skill expression based (because they have some power fantasy from the 3 IQ webnovels with a 2nd grade reading level ) and that'll make the game better, of course.

So, lets just use our limited dev resources to redesign combat for the 4th time... 5th time...? Exactly what this guy wants.
If I was this brain dead, I'd unalive myself.

Why would I even PvP on my farming simulator online game?

It's not a pvp game, what gave you the idea it was?

You believe the advice from the best pvpers can make the best pvp game, but it's the opposite. The floor of a game needs to be short enough for anyone to quickly pick up, but if you had it your way, the ceiling would be too high for most to reach.

Then you would be able to stand atop and be smug about how great you are at the games mechanics, along with the 5 other people that still play.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

I'd like to point out in Bob's hypothetical, it's very unlikely Snail would be at the top as he envisions himself.

Bobben is Snailposting again, yeez who would have guessed. On topic; I think so, it's just that he's busy with many other things right now.

I wholeheartedly agree, and don't see how you could interpret what I said to mean the opposite. If Jorbtar earnestly wanted to make PVP more enjoyable they would've found 3 hours to spend at some point in the past 15 years to learn the fundamentals so they wouldn't need to entirely rely on advice from PVPers.

I'm only rly using PVP as an example, but that's kindof how every part of the game is. I doubt Jorbtar knows how people raise qualities, what herding for a year+ is like, how village management actually plays out, how to build/maintain a market, what client features are desirable, etc.

My skill as a player isn't relevant to anything I've said. The example I gave is something that can be learned in a few hours.

In world 12 I solo killed 3 people from the Freedom realm, then a week later killed 3 or 4 more in a 2v6 or 2v7. It was about as one sided as a match could be.

An update broke our client and we went to a meteor late the same world on vanilla as a joke. It was like a 3v5 where both of my teammates were better than me vs. Freedom. Not only did we did we not win, but it was a bit of a struggle to escape even though they gave up chasing quickly. Vanilla client is unplayable.

What's your point?
