Bot or human. They can't tell the difference. It doesn't matter. The bots want to play HnH too. We should welcome them. :D

I don't really buy the argument that it's solely because of the mechanics, although I also don't see a problem in having extra character slots for more than one character either.

Or just allow for some hearth magic to automate stuff, why can't we build like gnome huts or w/e that will harvest the fields, replant best quality and put items into designated zones. Why can't we make some wind spirit spin the spitroast for us? Why can't we get some actually useful wind/water mill machines like a ropemaker or loom? Why can't the herd animals be simplified and always go up in quality so it allows ppl to low effort them and don't get stuck at low quality because they can't be bothered to manage so many animals AND consume less fooder. There are so many chores that should be automated with ingame mechanics and yet the devs would rather spend their time implementing stuff like pickling (which increases the need to bot).

Why can't we have "npc's" that are trainable and need to be fed and raised to perform tasks like feeding the animals and farming etc.?

Because everything would get trivial and shallow to the point that indescribable spark that makes you play this game instead of the multitude of other trivial, shallow games would vanish in thin air.

There's a difference between mechanically making alts useless and outright banning them.

That is certainly true but thinking more about it I wonder how the game would look like if players had to do everything on their own even if you live in a village/kingdom, instead of barter stands we would have a global market where prices are semi fixed and all offers are annonymous. That's kinda what BDO did and while it has massive drawbacks, overall it worked quite well for the longevity of the game, I haven't heard of a different MMO where BiS gear and topped characters from 2017 were still relevant in 2023. Really doubt J&L would ever consider a system like this though.

It appears that you may have misconstrued the original point and responded without due consideration.

The statement, 'Yes, the game should have no bots; it's more enjoyable to undertake tasks independently,' suggests that the original poster is advocating for game mechanics that provide a fulfilling experience without the need for automated assistance.

Kindly ensure a more thoughtful interpretation in future responses.
