You need to go to the login page and give your Steam-created account a name, then you can log in on it and unlink the Steam account from it.

I eagerly logged in via steam without linking my steam account first, completely not thinking about that and now it won't let me link cause it says there is already an account linked to my steam account... How do i unlink the account i just made to my steam so i can link my actual account?

1: Go and finish the creation of your steam-linked account as a new account
2: Log into the new account and un-link your steam account
3: go into your real account and link your steam account
