would only mult the str attr and not the pickaxe. Nerfs tool but not str.

To begin with, Jorb apparently used a screenshot representing how it looked at one point during development; if you look in-game now, it looks different, but Mining Strength is a bit different than most of the other attributes anyway. It is indeed a flat number strictly speaking (representing the same "dimension" as Strength, similar to eg. how Swimming reflects Constitution), but the mining tools and Quarryman buff it by adding further percentages of your Strength. Whereas previously, prior to this patch, there was no "mining strength", but rather a "damage modifier", which was buffed ×2 by pickaxes and ×1.2 by Quarryman (so ×2.4 if you had both).

Now that you are trying to unobfuscate some of those stats, could we know how much does 1 point of str equates to mining strength? Or is it non-linear.

They're just 1:1.

Juris wrote:Need explanation for the math change.

For example, previously, Lumberjack multiplied Board Yield by 130%, and Metal Saw multiplied it by 170%, so if you got 10 boards from a certain log with no bonii, you would have gotten:
  • 17 boards with Metal Saw (170% of base)
  • 13 boards with Lumberjack (130% of base)
  • 22 boards with both (170% × 130% = 221% of base)
Now, Lumberjack adds 50% Board Yield, and Metal Saw adds 70% Board Yield, so you'd instead get:
  • 17 boards with Metal Saw (100% + 70% = 170% of base)
  • 15 boards with Lumberjack (100% + 50% = 150% of base)
  • 22 boards with both (100% + 70% + 50% = 220% of base)
So the buff from Lumberjack alone, without Metal Saw, has improved, but the combined effect has been preserved (to within a percent).

Nice balance between new and old players. Now they both don't understand how things work

So if the game can recognize the best tool for the job, can some work be done to always equip the proper tool? For example if I'm chopping a tree it uses my woodsmans axe instead of my b12, or wear pickaxes to bash instead of my hand axe, shovel to remove a stump, etc

:?: So for shovels, there is only tree stump damage attribute? No soil digging amount/speed/stamina? :?:
