Game will never ramp up, niche genre, overcomplicated mechanics, too many timesinks time gated stuff, community and in game chat too toxic to be streamed or shared in mainstream media. (The small % of autistic nazi cosplayers drives away the "I want Stardew but harder" people this game could appeal to).

All in all it's going to be just us, the few, the weird, the retards, forever.

Biggest problem is trying to simultaneously be "Stardew Valley Online" and "Sweaty Gankbox Simulator".

I guess the two sides could theoretically compliment each other, but Jorb seems to insist that PvP is for conflict resolution - or rather refuses to accept/internalize that lot of people will play this game for the primary (or even sole) purpose of killing other players. Not to take their stuff (well it can be a nice bonus) not because their village was in the way, not because they were in competition for some in-game resource - just to grow the size of their skeleton collection.

I love the game, that's why after more then 10 years I keep coming back, the thing is it takes an incredible amount of time to just play (not even compete for anything on significant scale) so as life gets busier it's hard to justify the amount of time this game requires.
I swear (and this will never happen) if this game had something like diablo 2 allowing you to choose between single player and multiplayer "seasons" it would top charts. On the other hand it may not and split an already tiny player base, and by the end after snugglesnail killed all the pvpers he would be the only one playing

Haven and Hearth isn't trying to be anything other than Haven and Hearth and any problems stem from people who try to apply these absurd hyperboles and throw a tantrum when they're wrong.

what needs to be done is the minimum
1. Remove global presence - for this, prohibit teleports to the nearest tingwalls. Leave only the teleport to Charter Stones with a very long cooldown of 4-8 hours IRL.
2. Complicate the trade in stolen goods - prohibit the trade in stolen goods and those taken from corpses through the trading post.
3. Make the killer and robber debuff permanent. Make magic that allows a player with any intelligence level to receive traces of murder or robbery, after any time, if he knows the exact location (10 cells).
4. remove the mechanics of knocking out combat techniques from animals, which gives groups an advantage at the beginning of the game.
5. remove horse riding - it is only needed to throw off noobs

In an ideal world all games with farming would have a prviate server. accesssiblity is important like the say in the girlfirend review youtube channel review of elden ring and some people just want to engage with some espects of the game

People have convinced Jorb several times to nerf fast travel. "Travelling Merchants" have never materialized, to my knowledge.

Raw Hide! should be changed to fear the horses, or to force them to the lowest speed. Or any change that maintains/improves the function as a counter to horses in PvP, but makes it less of a newb trap to ride a horse and not immediately flee when a player appears on your minimap.

I don't want yo be an asshole, but this only makes the game worse for everyone.
I've been getting killed by "Russians" for wearing a fox hat since at least 2012. They never actually cared about my fox hat, nor had fast travel... it doesn't change the fact that if you come across someone with the wrong flavor of tism you will suffer.

I don't really care about pvp'ers kicking my ass anymore is part of the game, my point was that the game as it is probably doesn't appeal to more people than it's already playing.

People think it's good, people try it, people meet the player base and quit or get bored and quit.
