Tbh releasing on steam is never going to grow this game's player numbers. It has a set player base and it's going to turn anyone away. Your progression can be taken away by some guy in a MAGA hat spouting every racial slur in the dictionary while killing you with gear they stole from other unfortunate players. If they were just doing it to PvP, sure whatever. But it's pretty obvious they kill anyone not their group on sight just because they can, not because they want what you have. There's a difference between running into an animal with deadly and a player that griefs you. The first one you might try to learn from your mistakes, the second one will drive anyone away if they don't have a group. Don't really know if I'll reach anyone on the forums since it seems like the griefing types are the only one to use them. I really enjoy the village aspect of Haven & Hearth. I just can't recommend anyone the game with how other players treat PvP.

I don't know what's worse, this ^ or the exact same guys proclaiming to be fictitious saviors of female injustice.

The game lives an interesting online society that is for sure..

Places that don't ban you for an opinion to the right of Lenin tend to have wildly differing views? Shocker

well, the community has a set of dedicated griefers without a counter to them. pretty self-explanatory.
there is also no incentive for those aspiring to protect sprucehats. many die trying because they are casuals.

This kind of bellyaching has existed since the dawn of Haven and Hearth over 10 years ago. All your carebear tears are what Jorb and Loftar feed on. It nourishes the eldritch gods that control this hearth world.

Also Haven and Hearth is free (for the most part) so it's not like anyone here announcing their departure at the airport are going to financially impact Haven and Hearth.

I think it could do with more moderation and control over the TOXIC elements of pvp. Paving Swastika's around and spamming the N word needs to be a bannable offense. But getting brained with a big rock in Haven and Hearth while you're AFK'd is a rite of passage. Welcome to the game, you've been blooded in to the circle of salt. Now go kill someone to let your steam off and pass the salt onto others! Sharing is caring!

PS: Your bones make good furniture. The fact that the game has Skull Thrones says everything about the intent of putting pvp into this game. Ya'll need to go back to Hello Kitty Island Adventure

This thread well exemplifies the dichotomy of this game - two basic groups of players with opposing styles of play.

One group views all the hunting and farming and mining as merely a way to create a more powerful killing machine to ravage the countryside. Last man standing wins. They look on any other opinions as a bunch of wimps who should be playing Stardew Valley.

The other group prefers role playing, all the hunting and farming and fishing is an end to itself, and feel there are enough ways to die in the game without worrying everyone they meet will kill them just because they are there. They look on the first group as a bunch of psychotic serial killers whose sole intent is to ruin the game for everyone else.

There is no common ground here other than the map; and no hope of reconciliation since the devs have said they've no intent of having PvP and non-PvP servers. So we try to co-exist; the PvP crowd roaming in search of targets, and the rpg crowd tending their farms, with occasional hunting/fishing forays, hearthing home at site of another player on the map. It has worked, so to speak, for years, with each side complaining of the other.

Unfortunately this. Which is kinda sad, as the "hearth on sight" stops people from finding friends in the MMO. All the friends I made INSIDE the game are due to happy accidents, where both of us could not hearth immediately for some reason(and the other guy/girl was not a griefer) or when a cool guy with a good reputation called me out afterwards in realm chat.
