Server Reset?

I think this game needs a server reset, to be honest. Which is kind of sad for something that's not even been available for three months, but I think enough major changes have happened to warrant it. First off, I don't like how all the older characters have multiple claims while I can't put multiple claims down -- and how that's NOT intended anymore, but they just weren't removed when the changes happened. Frankly, it's unfair and it makes me sad and it happens often enough that I see it regularly while I'm exploring and junk. Additionally, combat's broken and needs to be fixed -- it's broken that one levelled-up player can kill 50 newbies who join up and want to play together, and it's not very fun. It needs a real overhaul.

Also, since there was a problem with players macroing, and because newer players are starting out with a disadvantage in LP gain now, I think instead of trying to balance it so that the guy who macros for three weeks is not broken against 20 newbies who've been playing for three days, it might be better to wipe it all out and start afresh.

Obviously, this would happen in the future -- possibly months from now, but I think it's needed.

Macroing doesn't work anymore. After gaining your first 1000LP sticks give nothing.

Right. So... everyone who macro'd has an advantage over new players, because they can't do the same thing. Additionally, even without macroing, the amount of LP gained from sticks and clay is not-insignificant, and new players don't get that anymore. So old players got stronger faster, and continue to get stronger, while new players are at a relative disadvantage.

What took an old player X days from scratch might take a new player 2X days from scratch.

Soooo....we need to restart the game because you came late? I disagree.
I admit people who started early have a slight advantage, but thats to be expected. And we had to put up with server crashes every 30 min, and a bunch more.
You`ve only been here 2 days, and you have had a rocky start. Give it a bit more time, and you`ll be fine.

The Dev's plan on a Map reset, check out some of their posts. that'll fix the multiple claims problem.

They don't currently plan on re-setting characters at any point unless they absolutely have to for technical reasons.

So far their policy has been not to refund players who lose out on changes/crashes/bugs and not to tax players who win out on them.

Both the LP and Combat system are earmarked for overhauls at some point in the future, it's unknowable exactly how long because of the way J&L work.

I hear what you're saying, but I don't think it's going to happen. Additionally, if you start applying the logic "players who have been on longer have an unfair advantage" in an MMO you pretty much have to do regular server re-starts, which kind of breaks the whole persistance idea.

What I think is needed is a glass ceiling for character power. Ie there would be a certain power level that can't actually be reached, but can always be approached closer. At start it would go fast, but as you approach the line it slows down exponentially. So a player that's been playing four hours a day for two weeks would be able to take on the strongest character in game, but would still be at a disadvantage. Two of such players, however, would dispatch the powerful player 90% of the time.

I don't see how this could be done without screwing over people like Raepshire, Rift and Blaze, however.

Screw over 3 players or screw over everyone else?

lol, whats the point of gaining lp / stats if you cant use it.
it's arleady a lot harder to gain stats and skills then you can imagine for us.
You can gain like.. 4 str from a single bear.. we can, if were lucky gain a single str from a bear.
and bascially cant even raise other stats anymore.
you can raise your skill 5+ points with 20k lp, if were lucky, we can raise it 1 point.
and thats just me imagining a decently along player, im sure you could, as a newbie to a lot more with those.

Well, I think some people think that gaining lp / stats shouldn't be the primary focus of the game... I tend to agree with them, but I don't really mind if you want to focus on that and be infinitely more powerful than me.
