Indeed, odd things may happen in crashes. Older players remember how every crash meant a rollback, but I have since then developed techniques to try and emergency-save the in-memory data post-mortem. This time I failed (fascinatingly enough because the debugger (gdb) itself segfaulted on me).

Since maps and characters are, obviously, saved by different functions, that is one of the discrepancies that may, potentially appear.

So basicly you are saying there is nothing that can be done about this? I recon a rollback to one minute earlier would solve the issue if this is possible ofcourse.

But that would assume that the data of a minute earlier were still available. Which it obviously isn't.

If the debugger hadn't crashed, I'd have saved the current data instead. But it did crash. That's what you call a bug. ;)

I'm currently in the process of trying to prevent another rollback.

miauw wrote:Yah we have that rule aswell. But they were in my inventory. Rollback caused me to spawn inside house instead of forest, so i'm guessing 1min rollback, no more keys in cupboard, nor in inventory... go figure

Hope the server comes back soon... See if I lost anything =X

Well, yes, I can remove gates with divine powers, but I swear that every time there's a rollback, there are a hundred people who have just built new gates. Because of the problems of scale and everything, it's kinda hard for me to make some kind of rule to promise to destroy gates, because people might even take the opportunity to fool me into destroying the gates of others (and I cannot take the time to properly verify ownership for every one).
