Re: Is the game dying already due to group/faction murder ho
I think when the second fast paced server is launched there will be a better situation for new players, hopefully some kind of friendly server comes out of this

You don't even need the 15 bucks part just keep banning griefer accounts... the big issue is bot abuse/alt abuse are not considered griefing by the devs. Its the biggest issue with punishing people based on scenes is that there is no way around bot abuse as long as the devs tolerate it.Valgar wrote:It is true that PVP can't be erased because its a core mechanic, but here this is too much for the game evolution.
Newplayers haven't the time to understand what is happening before a guy jump on them to slaughter them.
Now PKer are just jumping on easy target, and hide as soon as possible behind a wall, waiting to go back again when the revenge is away.
Perhaps putting an even grievious scent to murderer. Doing a murder again before the end of the previous one's scents should impact his entire claim vulnerability or hability to enter all claimed area (yes you relentlessly killing, you are left alone for good fair fights and not only on sprucecaps). There is no way to kill a non retarded sprucecaps killer if you are not camping at their gate or spending your day to run around.
Can be griefed ? Put the game on Steam for 15 bucks per account creation, and hire moderator.
Delete the griefer's account (for some their account is more important than their mom).

how will a more severe punishment for murder improve the capabilities of griefers? Most, 99% of spruce never learn "murder". They don't even have this skill.The_Lich_King wrote:This would empower griefers more not lessTHE_RANGER wrote:YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YEA YEA YEA YES YES YEA YES YRS YES YES YES YES YES YEA YES KILL EVERY PKERSpacePig wrote: the punishment for killing a player should be commensurate in trauma with the loss of a character! only then will it stop.
how on the ships that transported slaves they hanged the entire crew, indiscriminately.
Unless your saying PKer's should be hunted down by players in game so that we can review their cases on a case by case basis and make sure people doing bot disposal and defending their base wouldn't be punished for something that is not their fault.
In which case i agree and encourage you to do that although most fail.
If you mean griefing of high-level players by gankers. Then this will only be their problem, it is in their power to get together and cut out griefers and raze all their villages to the ground, find their bases, take revenge - they, unlike spruce. They can defend themselves.
According to your logic, no matter what they do with griefing - it will only increase griefing, so there is no need to do this. But in fact, let griefing increase, but only so that players from large villages suffer from it. Then players from large villages will have an incentive to cut out gankers and hunt them.
And not giggle when another noob flies into the forum with his ass torn to shreds.

When someone is attacking you - they are not griefing you. Stop thinking anything that is not to your liking is griefing, ffs. Someone walking several naked alts to your base and parking them in front of your gates, blocking all exits - that's griefing. And you deal with it by killing those alts. That's how the system works.
Is it good? No, not really. There is nothing to stop a guy from turning into a generic aggressive MMO NPC attacking anyone that comes too close. And this shit kills a lot of the social aspect the game can have - when you meet someone, they are either one of those NPCs and you're fucked or it's someone like you and you both awkwardly walk past each other hoping the other guy wouldn't turn and attack. Or you both tp the moment you hear a player alert.
Yeah, it's shit. Will it change - eh, probably not cuz of "mah player agency" that the devs have such a hardon to. (funny how they didn't care about player agency introducing those retarded satiations when we were eating not in the way they wanted us to be eating, yeah, player agency my ass)

griefing is any attack without the goal of getting profit from it. In this sense, ganking noobs is exactly the same as building your base, or bash your boat.LaserSaysPew wrote: You don't need murder skill to murder sprucecaps.

People do it because they are bored, and because they will not get punished for it.

(pictures a fairly complex , yet fundamental and realistic social interaction ) and that shit kills the social aspect!"LaserSaysPew wrote:[

that is the social aspect you muppet, players band together because they get raided, or to be the raiders for once, there is betrayal ,espionage, factions and scared peasants simply because that is the consequence of the social interaction range in this game.
and we get challenging. near cheese proof and somewhat competent hostile npcs aswell. that actively try to cheese you.
if you think social aspects are something that just happens by limiting the social actions of players. i really dont want to know whatelse your twisted mind cooks up.

tbh better stop playing because grief than realize hard metal content is inaccessible unless you already know the game, pay factions for tools, and still you'll need luck... this reminds me Salem, which had lots of contents too difficult to access, so players maybe quitting for that if they survive

Are you an idiot? Let's say some griefers find your pali and decide to build a pali around your pali with naked alts? Rn its wasted effort cause you can just kill them. But in your universe you have no recourse cause fighting them would leave scenes.the punishment for killing a player should be commensurate in trauma with the loss of a character! only then will it stop.
how on the ships that transported slaves they hanged the entire crew, indiscriminately.
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YEA YEA YEA YES YES YEA YES YRS YES YES YES YES YES YEA YES KILL EVERY PKER
This would empower griefers more not less

What do you do if they block your gate with 1hp alts and you have to kill them to leave? This actually happened when nidbanes were first added. You didn't need to siege to kill some noobie you could block their gate force them to leave a scent and then nidbane swarm after battery/murder scenes were harvested bypassing peoples palisades.
The fact you can't consider how punishing based on scent is abuseable shows how little about the game you know.

No worries everyone, surely when Whatever Bay is defeated the player count will start rising again with the removal of such a toxic element from the game.
