The bumburn nerf was also kinda dumb, but on the right track ig.
The pepper bot I'm using still functions 1:1 the same as it did in world 10 when pepper was most egregiously OP, and the pepper fields have a similar output because at the same time peppered food died pepper became the best spice in most recipes.

Do it to cheese now.
There's a point where setting up bots isn't worth the effort, when the reward:cost ratio becomes lower, and the world duration becomes lower.

Re: At the Crossroads of what is and what could be?
if there had ever been a world where I ran into snail or someone from snail village and was like "wow this character is op" then maybe i could buy into the self acclaimed botting hype but that has never happened its usually the opposite
the types of characters im normally surprised by are from AD or koreans in terms of equipment or stats and its sort of expected with all the tryhards they have, probably the #1 person ur most likely to run into in the wild is felix hes just always out on his snek grinding and doing shit

Re: At the Crossroads of what is and what could be?
90% of the useful bots we have are in response to very adult-with-a-life unfriendly mechanics like steel being horrendously gay that everybody has. Heck, for the last 2.5 worlds I haven't use equipment we craft ourselves (outside of a starter Bplate/spear) as a self imposed challenge because it makes looting people more fun.
The remaining 10% is usually what people are upset about and it's just over-complicated, unproductive stuff made for the fun of making it.

That's intentional, I'm not here to snitch on anyone in particular and I'm trying not to speculate on what factions I haven't played with or associated with for some time may have or not have. We already went over the hunting stuff and given all the factions you have played with I find it hard to believe you have never seen anyone using ping bots before or have not made use of that yourself.MightySheep wrote:You cant tell me whos botting or what the bots are.
I pointed out that you're more likely to run into a bot rather than an actual player, but it doesn't really seem to concern you that players could all but avoid the dangers of PvP almost entirely by making use of those. That is still true for a manually controlled alt of course, but at least in that case someone is doing it themselves. If they want to make the game an RTS then by all means go for it, but sitting on the fence doesn't do any good for anyone.

Ok so snail is out of the discussion in terms of who has a big unfair advantage in stats or industry Im not sure whos left? Any names at all? u guys complained so much u must have something
The 2nd part of your comment is honestly Alex Jones tier stuff. More likely than players? Lol. Try putting together some proof maybe? Just making statements no1 can relate to in their personal experience is not a convincing argument. As for this somehow being a useful pvp application- I dont really get it but if you say so... If you mean as a sort of early warning system then why not have a bunch of afk alts at intersections or thingwalls? I know some people do that. Not sure where "bots" comes into it. I wouldnt say its a big issue
Yep someone in my village used to use the angler bot but then It stopped working I thought they fixed it but I had plenty of angler meat this world without the bot. Its not exactly rocket science to put an alt at an angler spawn and log it in once a while. I'm lazy so I didnt do that I just found a lot of anglers from mining - My underground road stopped at the river so I would see it passing through.Kaios wrote:find it hard to believe you have never seen anyone using ping bots before or have not made use of that yourself

Re: At the Crossroads of what is and what could be?
I linked a relevant thread just a few pages ago, this one: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=75369
In particular,
And yeah basically as an early warning system except it has the capability to report both in-game and to discord or some other type of outside application along with providing a screenshot of the sighting as it occurs. It's no different than pinging for an animal. This can be utilized with respect to avoiding players or targeting them. Sure you can use alts for that and hear a warning alarm for unknown or red but that's related to alts more than botting and certainly does not possess the same advanced capabilities.
In particular,
Yes that is an issue not only related to botting but also a problem from a mechanics perspective, however resolving it is not necessarily going to prevent or curb the botting. If/when features like that become more accessible to the average non-faction player, why would they not make use of them? Of course that is going to result in a decline of interaction between "real" players and based on the experience of others it already has been having that effect.Nightdawg wrote:Yes, I pretty much came up with this idea because of pinging bots. (Probably everyone who wants them removed had the same thought)
I used to hunt all over the map too, but once we found a couple of good spots, I didn't have to search for anything for the rest of the world, just drop an alt that checks every 20 minutes and pings us in discord xD
Sure, you can continue searching, but you just drop more pinging alts at that point.
I just figured removing those quality nodes would solve the issue and give an *equal* chance to all players to find good animals...
Additionally, right now you can be ultra lucky and settle next to some super high quality spot from the start. There's no way for anyone to know if they do that, so it's pure luck when it comes to this.
What we have now:
1) Hunt till you find a super high spot (can take a week, can take a month)
2) Drop pinging bot there and use it for the rest of the world.
I would rather have rare high q animals, with random spawns, so people who hunt will all have an equal chance. And if you hunt 10 times more than other people, you won't depend on pure luck to find a good spot.
Or at least a change in this regard?
