my friends last played in legacy when the game saw regular 5 second lagspikes, and they were not cool with it, and they quit and never came back. steam release is a rare opportunity to get them to try it again, all these years later.
If the server can't handle the player count at launch and my friends see lagspikes i am going to get such withering looks and they will never let me pick a game again

Re: Prelude: World 16
I think this was removed like 3-4 worlds ago. A claim kills the npc now, but if it's a huge village and the npc is inside the wall in unclaimed land it could still be there.animary wrote:"That's literally all it would take to fix Credos"
Add - If you must bail a credo quest, that quest is flagged and you will not be given it again during that credo.
A couple of worlds ago I could not complete the relatively easy Fisherman credo. About a fourth of the way along it gave me a simple quest, deliver a certain fish to a certain tree ...except that tree was inside a large, unfriendly, village (people were actually warned not to go too near that place). I bailed, which set me back a step, did a couple more quests and was given that same quest again, bailed again, and repeated this til the end of that world.
As an alternative, do not allow claims to be built over quest givers and resources.

Difficult problem to navigate tbh. If we launch a bunch of empty servers that dwindle down to nothing quickly that also isn't great.The_Blode wrote:my friends last played in legacy when the game saw regular 5 second lagspikes, and they were not cool with it, and they quit and never came back. steam release is a rare opportunity to get them to try it again, all these years later.

Thank you all for the feedback. We post these in advance for a reason. May consider various points raised.

I think this makes things a bit worse, though. The people who suggested it are right in that there's a problem with node qualities, haven't thought through the implications. This drastically increases the amount of work needed for highQ bones and therefore industry in general. For perspective, I've personally spend hundreds of hours boating around killing everything I can find yet I've never found a topQ node for a relevant animal.jorb wrote: [*] The quality noise fields of foragables and animals drift every new moon, with animal quality drifting faster than herb quality.[/list]
With nodes being that rare making it so that villages on a consistent basis have to find new topQ nodes in order to keep up with other villages in terms of quality will create a bigger power disparity than there needs to be, as bones are one of the primary places quality ""comes from"".
I don't see a problem with nodes moving in general, but the variance in quality between nodes really needed to be drastically reduced, or the chance of finding top quality drastically increased even before this change - but this change will exacerbate that issue.
I have always maintained that the difference between peak and base q of a node is WAY too sharp of a gradient. ive seen mammoth Q vary by quality in excess of 50 points by moving just a few tiles in a single direction, which imo, is super unfun to interact with in terms of trying to effectively hunt and collect the amount of raw resources (bones, hides, intestines) necessary for industry
including a small graphic to visualize my point:

Re: Prelude: World 16
On the topic of quality nodes, I'm curious if water/clay nodes on underground layers intentionally have a lower average quality level compared to the surface. Maybe someone has a different experience but I have spent a lot of time checking for high quality water and ball clay at underground nodes and I don't recall ever finding any that were of significance.

Re: Prelude: World 16
i know critical thinking is a toughie for you but salt this world was literally non-content. its clearly in a place where it has to be nerfed into complete irrelevance to not become a really shitty and unfun thing to interact with, so remove it and come up with a new concept for it wholesale bc the hunger % reduction ain't it.Robben_DuMarsch wrote:I thought w15 salt was pretty aightnoindyfikator wrote:Can you remove salt instead of buffing this stupid mechanic? Re: Prelude: World 16
and who are you, exactly? any one of the gorillion sprucecaps with q30 bronze swords that got instaKO'd at the siege of WB have 10,000x as much experience with pvp as you and are infinitely more qualified to have an opinionNocturnal-Rainbows wrote:>dude trust me everyone was totally running around with bows
