I think if you dig a well, the result won't be capped by your stats. Not sure if it's capped by anything; maybe you just get the baseline q of that particular spot.planer26 wrote:I forgot about that. I have a wellspring that was Q20 previously and it is Q80 now.
How common is it for players to have 250+ survival? I was happy about finding Q40 water recently but now it seems pointless to do anything that requires water until your survival is at 250.

It is precisely in order to avoid having to do that that we raised the water quality.loftar wrote:Myrgard wrote:At this rate we really will have a world reset in another two months...
Would a reset really be that bad? I think it'd be worth to have some kind of poll or something about that.
Most people I've talked to tonight seem very demoralised by this fix and would have rather started over with a reset.
Personally, most of what we have in our village now feels 'meh'. All the effort put in making good bone clay, trees and such, all thrown out the window... it's the same ugly feeling you get when you come back to the game after taking a break for months, but without the break part. You are stuck with the old stuff, credos, built villages and such, having to re-do the boring stuff without the excitement of a new world or achieving new goals.
That's why I'm asking: is there a reason why a reset is not being considered?

I understand that you need to start somewhere if you want to be consistent going forward. That is why you won't be seeing me appealing the ban, though my decision in continuing to play will be based on whether I get access to my account whenever I decide to pay once more. That said it does disappoint me to see that this is the case where you and Jorb decide to go heavy handed on and give out the harshest punishment seen yet for a scenario that had the least amount of malice. There were several other better opportunities in the past where actual harm**was done to others that you could have intervened in. I can only hope that going forward you start to show it it's currently missing.loftar wrote:What you say is surely true, and it's not that I don't wish that we could be, but what is the alternative? Again, anything else is simply obligating us to never intervene ever again.Astarisk wrote:Actually yes, Being Fair and Just involves you being consistent in what you do.
** The actual effective gains are so tiny and gets factored out, I'd be surprised to see if it lead to anything more than a 7% gain, which is even more trivial where everything has a sqrt involved in it. No player has been actively disrupted by this water. I dare say raising the base Q water to 250q disrupts them far more. No player was murdered, no village was ransacked, and at the end the ill-gotten goods were being distributed to others freely.

This account originally was a sub-account, and my real account was registered with my full name. So, I changed it to this accountabt79 wrote:where have you been since 2021?yym331 wrote:Please do not perform a game wipe until sufficient content has been created.

I really hope you'll stick with the "no term limit", and won't go soft on them by giving them everything back when the next world comes around.jorb wrote: [*] All accounts associated with "The Hearthland Herald" are now banned with no term limit, and;

@Jorb and Loftar I noticed that wellsprings appear to be useless now as I just collected some quality 50 water from one, it seems strange that these would be separate from the normal water table, are they always independent? or is it that you only raised the water table in the overworld and not underground?

I don't know exactly what other opportunities you are referring to, but I hope you realize that there may also be multiple different kinds of practical circumstances that may stand against us and total consistency, not least that of evidence. Contrary to what sometimes appears to be common knowledge, we aren't actually omniscient, and just because you might be in a group chat where the perpetrators are freely bragging of their exploits (half of the time probably just making it up also, mind you), that doesn't put us in the same situation. The fog of war is often very real and very opaque for us; this just happened to be a case where the evidence was extraordinarily clear.Astarisk wrote:There were several other better opportunities in the past where actual harm**was done to others that you could have intervened in.
Not sure what you mean by "the harshest punishment yet"; I don't know anything here that there isn't precedent for. I also don't think that it is the level of malice that matters, but the consequences. I'm sure you don't need to look any further than this thread to realize that there is no lack of people who perceived this as a significant slight both against them personally and/or against the Hearth as a whole. Completely justifiably so, in my personal opinion.Astarisk wrote:the harshest punishment seen yet for a scenario that had the least amount of malice.
