Knowingly abusing mechanics that are not intended to fuck with other players, then hide behind jokes and irony.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Nothing will happen. They will do zilch like they always do. That's why exploits will never stop from the same group of players.

The only solution is a permanent ban for exploiters and nuke them every time they play and any village they join with alts. till they and the community follow the ruling and rules.

(This is not meant to be a moral/legal comparison of bug abuse and real-life larceny, just the principle of responsibility.)

Imagine some doofus walks into the most crime-ridden part of a city and starts waving around wads of cash. Of course you can blame him for doing a stupid thing like that. The people who robbed him still committed a crime.

A "timeout" - aka being unable to play for 1 world (or a few weeks) is not a punishment fitting such an obvious abuse. Same thing last year with the digging well bug abuse.
The only thing that hurts these people is losing their hat collection and tokens. Ban any and all accounts related to those people and their villages. A permanent, irreversible ban is the only way to go.

I was cool with the idea of a demigod walking around killing hermits, and even massive fully automated villages with ChatGPT integration, but exploiting progression bugs in a game like haven is far too much.

it's not like rust or tarkov where stuff is ez come ez go. we're talking weeks/months of work invalidated. i think the line is clear. i dont know how your backend DB is set up but a weekly, monthly report could catch egregious quality related stuff automatically for review. that you guys dont already have reports set up for the guys that get banned every other world for the same reason is beyond me. you are a truly gentle spirit for believing in reform.

re: banking up 'sploits.. you are correct jorb, exploiters hold onto their trade secrets. you're not going to get anything of value out of them by being kind. just throw them out the window with no levity offered. a strong message that there is no room for this kind of play, instead of a limp suggestion.
another stupid day of my worthless hermit life

  • A bug in the implementation of the Sled Riding mechanic we pushed yesterday made it possible to use a pulled sled to bypass the visitor debuff, and whereas;
  • At least two separate parties used the bug in World 16 and World 16.1 respectively, to raid for personal profit, two separate offended parties, and whereas;
  • Actions aforementioned are manifestly against the very spirit of Christmas itself, carrying a latae sententiae punishment of interdict.
Therefore
-------------------------------
  • The village "Balls Bay" in World 16, has been placed under interdict, and cannot be used until further notice, and;
  • The village "haven.UI$CommandException" in World 16.1, and an associated outpost, have been placed under interdict, and cannot be used until further notice, and;
  • Several accounts identified as belonging to the offending parties have been banned until further notice, and;
  • For the maintenance of public peace and order during the blessed season, no further action will be taken until after it, and;
  • We may then decide those villages and/or accounts forfeit entirely, and;
  • Offended parties may submit itemized loss reports of significance, and we may, no promise made, attempt to restore or retrieve some of the losses, and;
  • If you have been banned or locked out of your village on account of this decision we welcome your appeals to mercy, or, if you feel unfairly targeted, justice.
Ad Notam
-------------------------------
  • We are always interested in good quality bug reports. Report before you 'sploit, and we can avoid affaires.
  • We are always eager to hear your appeals for clemency, especially should they demonstrate a profounder level of remorse by coming attached with some truly juicy bug reports, concerning this 'sploit or others, which some of you apparently hoard for the truly long game.
Pirates be ye warned!

All PVPers are bug abusers and only abuse bugs to try and get the upperhand against other bug abusing PVPers.

You should also ban the people who get bug abused to stop the endless cycle.
I am in favoured of this change because I have never been abused except by others

how on the ships that transported slaves they hanged the entire crew, indiscriminately.
