I have since received the opinion that this made new walls much too easy to defend, and I'm inclined to agree. However, rather than revert this change as it was, I'm planning to change it so that walls cannot be repaired 10 minutes after last being demolished, but once that cool-down has passed, they can be repaired as usual (this to make it easier to repair walls that have merely decayed).
Since this mostly just restores walls to how they used to be, I imagine it should be a somewhat uncontroversial change, but since no change to siege/PvP is ever uncontroversial, please feel free to opine before I restart the server.
Also inb4 being worried about hermits, I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that hermits are mostly just unaffected by this change, since they wouldn't be able to to anything about anyone bashing their cornerposts anyway.

It would have mattered ~10h ago when pali's were built and people tried to destroy it. Now most of them are dry or close to be dry

Re: Game Development: World 15
This was me. I've been playing this game for years existing peaceably with the vast majority of players I've come into contact with, I'm not a "random hermit." In the last world, I presided over a village of 5 and maintained relationships with other villages. We had just been robbed by a large group and had only just rebuilt. You suddenly appeared and began opening containers and seemingly taking things. I began to destroy your boat just to inconvenience your efforts to steal; if you had just gotten in the boat and left, that would have been the end of the misunderstanding. Instead of leaving, or stating that you weren't there to steal or destroy, you then knocked me out multiple times and destroyed everything. I bashed your boat not with the expectation that you wouldn't attack me, but that we were already under attack and you were going to knock me out no matter what I did.wonder-ass wrote:yano its very funny how all these people are so against day 1 rage. the average player day 1 is a complete piece of shit, I walked up to some random hermits settlement and said "cute base what u cooking in the oven" lil bro proceeded to bash my boat with the impression I wouldn't be able to aggro him. their behavior do a complete 180 when u aggro them.
You walked away from that situation feeling like I was the "complete piece of shit" even though all I did was react to your invasive actions without attacking you, and you responded by wiping away hours of our effort. Pull your head out of your ass. If you walked up like a normal person and just said "hello," none of that would've happened. Grow up.

Re: Game Development: World 15
This was my intention, at least, but I managed to forget to push the change that made it 10 minutes instead of 2 hours. At this point, I feel I'd annoy more people with back-to-back restarts than with an unintentionally long cool-down, so unless there's particularly strong opinion the other way, I'll just leave it this way until I restart the server for some other reason.loftar wrote:cannot be repaired 10 minutes after last being demolished

Re: Game Development: World 15
How? We're currently 51 hours in. Mole Hide is quickest to dry at 12 hours. Making leather takes 30 hours, meaning the theoretical soonest time someone could finish leather was 9 hours ago. After 24 hours the palisade begins building up soak. Am I missing something here?DeniskaRUS wrote:It would have mattered ~10h ago when pali's were built and people tried to destroy it. It seems there is 95% chance to get Mole's Pawbone now (was much more rare last world) and 0% chance to get Fishy Eyeball (can't get one for completing quest after 50-60 fish butchered).
