From what I can tell Yew seems like a much better option for wood production - it grows 1 stage per day same as Firs, needs less tile space, and provides 3 logs at max growth. Obviously no boughs but I can't imagine there is much demand for them.

Am I missing something?

They are fast growing and as you mentioned they have boughs. Those boughs can be crafted into tools just like a bracnh so its a matter of five extra branches per tree, for all practical purposes.

True a skill tree map would be a nice addition. It would make things a lot easier to see say oh I need to discover this to get this. :)

as for discovery, you just have to check wiki for which materials.

I use the wiki Tonky. I was just agreeing with Teck and saying new people would benefit from an in game skill tree showing the connections of discoveries.

im just saying "you in general" you, and showing the skill tree map we already have jfi, which is linked to "read me first" sticky (which is also linked from "how-to" top bar that i believe every new player is supposed to take a look) and we all know in game manual is not a thing we can see any time soon.

shouldn't be a problem if players download a skill tree image and link it on their desktop - and there are even 3 different ones on http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Skills

Sure it would be neat for new players to have an ingame skill tree that has colored icons for skills you already got and greyed out ones for those you don't have yet (Ender fork anyone? :P )

Would you be able to tell if someone memorized you, or do you have to mutually memorize for them to show up in your list?

You have to memorize them in order to see them on your kin list or kin them.

There is no way for you to tell if someone has memorized you short of a mutual kinship.

Ah. Though, if someone has memorized you, other than showing my name is there any repercussions if I've left no scents?
