Sadly you will find that not everyone here is helpful, he was 'playing' with you.

If you want to find a group to play with try the Dwarves and Thieves section of the forum, you may also want to read some of the entries in there so you have a better idea of whats expected of you. (How to write a proper join request.)

I'll take it seriously, though. Amanda has the "join other people" part right. The down side is if you aren't trolling, not many people are going to take on completely new people. There's a really good thread stickied at the top called "Sevenless's guide for beginning players." You should read through it. Play for a few weeks, get the hang of the game, and others are more likely to accept someone that's just "green" and not completely new.
