The question is: How would we prevent that people would use it as rafts were used in the beginning of this world before they were fixed?
What bring's you safe to shore technically brings you safe to another too.

We already have a mechanic for that with silver for the ferryman. I don't see any point in doubling up on it when it's already relatively unused by most players. Would rather just rebalance silver somehow instead.

Silver is very expensive and makes you give up a ring slot. By the time you can afford it, you're so incredibly unlikely to need it...

Sure, so rebalance it. Forageable called "Silverleaf" that you craft with maybe ancient root to make a "silver for the ferryman" ring.

As somebody said earlier, silver is not easy to get. Cork would provide an early game solution.

Added Knarr Flotsam. Whenever a Knarr is destroyed, it now spawns a number of Knarr flotsams. Flotsams act more or less as temporary chairs in the water, and you can cling onto them in hope of rescue.

Not sure if Snekkja also spawns these.

I had silver for the ferryman available for my village by the end of the first or second week last world. We kept some around for those that were newer to the game and not used to swimming distances and boats. The wait was more for goldbeater's to make the jewelry with rather than finding silver.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Think of the noobs! Just because your village can get silver and jewelry on the first second that it is theoretically possible (given timers on wine etc.) Doesn't mean that others could!
There are plenty of relatively useless things in this game, and this wouldn't be like them!

Think about good of the noobs and other people in C&I not only yourself!

Everyone missed my reply to the comment that silver is expensive and just echoed it  Make silver figurative (Silverleaf forageable or whatever you want to jive it with) instead of literal to balance the ring towards usefulness.
