I'm all for saving for winter being required, and other season-based play-style changes. However, there are two problems with this:

1: What if someone starts the game in the winter? Either it can't be winter everywhere at once, or newbies will need some kind of protection from seasons.

2: Where are you going to store several hundred apples per hearthling per day? Either fix the hearthling metabolism, or food will need to at very least stack.

Don't take me wrong, I really look forward to seasonal changes, but there's still a bit of work needed before they can be made relevant and playable.
Surprise.

Peter, they could use Hemesphires. North is winter, then south is summer, middle is fall, and it rotates. Not very realistic, but oh well.. A noob could migrate, but if you settle down you need a plan.

You could have a vertical / horizontal band of seasonal adjustment that travels around the map though... That wouldn't mean you need to constrain how big the map is, you could have it either get bigger/longer as the world expands, or alternatively you could have multiple bands

I don't see whats so hard to have a one month season. Simply split the season into 5 different parts. Lets take the different seasons.

Spring:

1. Flowers begin to grow in between patches of snow.

2. Flowers begin to appear everywhere, and spike in animal mating occurs. Many rain storms.

3. Many animals are born and spring is in full bloom. Very pleasant and nice looking.

4. Heat intensifies a bit and animals start growing up.

5. Most animals are adults by now, and the forests are abundant in animals.

Summer:

1. Heat is intensified and you must wear lighter clothing.

2. Mosquitoes start appearing and your happiness decreases if you get bit.

3. Time for swimming (When they fix it), campfires, and parties.

4. heat dies down a bit and a few plesent days appear.

5. Cool winds are often, and you can wear any type of clothing.

Autumn:

1. Leaves begin changing color and the cold is a bit unpleasant after warm summer.

2. Most leaves are different colors and a few begin to fall off trees.

3. Leaves fall at a steady pace and it begins getting cold.

4. Most leaves are on the ground and you must wear warm clothes.

5. All leaves have disappeared from trees and cold winds begin coming. Must wear warm clothing, or extreme discomfort occurs.

Winter:

1. First snow begins to fall and a thin sheet of snow appears

2. A moderately thick sheet of snow appears and leaves foot prints for 20 minutes where ever you walk, unless a storm is active, in which it disappears in 5 minutes.

3. Think snow and heavy blizards, snow may be 1 foot deep. Leaves trails for an in game day, unless a blizzard commences, in which it disappears in 20 minutes. Warm clothing is mandatory, or you will get frostbite and eventually die.

4. Blizzards are finished. Snow covers everything, but there are no more storms.

5. The thaw begins to melt snow and ice.

Build your own game.

Don't go for something hard, make space invaders or pacman, heck, make tic tac toe!

You will gain some basic level of appreciation for "what is so hard" and you will start to understand why your suggestions don't really address it.

Otherwise you're going to keep getting people tell you "it doesn't work like that kid"

From the work they have done, I say this is easy in comparison. Jorb has not stated that it is hard to implant these things, it just takes time. He has stated that it causes a problem for new players.

agarrett you presented your idea, a dev posted a wall of text saying they think it might be nice, here are all the issues we see, here are the ways that it will be difficult to balance, etc. stop posting now.
