Bone pick + surface mining

Currently if every single peice of cast iron and every pick axe were deleted from the game, it would be impossible to produce any more iron, because iron can only be obtained through using a iron pick axe; an unbreakable paradox, if you are without the means of admin-spawning one or the other.

So, to fix this problem, i suggest that:
1. An alternative pick axe be made possible, from bone. This pick axe isn't strong enough to dig a mine shaft (whenever that gets put in) but it is strong enough to chip at the walls of a mine and

2. Dig for iron inside the rocks on the surface. To prevent these rocks from completely replacing mines, the stone would be perminately destroyed like turning it into a grindstone or runestone does. Once destroyed, it leaves behind 9 iron ores. [edit - the number of ores could be modified by the nature/industry slider]

You can already mine without a pick axe, just use a stone axe instead, not as good, but gets you the iron that you need to start the iron making process.

Yeah. How do you think i made my first anvil, hammer and pick. That took forever..wow.

boy is your face red... you didn't think the devs just gave us all pickaxes did you?
...did you think that everyone who was mining stole/bought/was-given a pickaxe from someone?


That being said, it's not a horrible idea to have a pickaxe made from bone instead of using a stone axe... although i like the fact i can use my stoneaxe as a multi-tool for so much... I'm also a big fan of mining the ground out for rocks.. although i'm unsure how that makes sence? does it leave a hole that you can't move over? is this making pits ect?
