I wouldn't want custom houses sims style (place walls, obtain roofs) I think that's ugly, and doesn't even typically look good in real life. I'd much rather prefer the modular system described earlier in the thread, you add 'rooms' and 'floors', a limit to floors that would render the structure unsafe based on size would be nice if possible (for example you need at least 3x3 house-modules to place 3rd floor).

Also a system to place beams that perhaps take up space, a better option for a 'stone' building more similar to castles perhaps? ;)

I know castles don't belong and I want nothing like that infamous screenshot, but I would want to create an epic 'building' akin to a castle.

Also if added 'floors' to buildings shouldn't be allowed in mines? Perhaps different types of buildings for mines in general?
Mine buildings might be something to put off a long time until mines are redone but they could double as storage and keeping up the roof from cave-ins for quite some space.

They didn't have castles in this era the game is portraying? I don't know my history that well.

I kind of like the idea of castle building, maybe not brick by brick, but even modular to where there is no limit to what a group of people could achieve.

Being able to build something unique with a group of players even akin to castles would work too.

Yea, nothing sim style, or UO like.

I'm honestly not sure at all, I'm not good on my history especially of northern Europe at all.

sims never meant it by that i meant where you can build on a 3x3 or 6x6 maybe even 8x8 Extension onto the right left or back of the building to make it bigger.

Then to be able to add stairs in the building to add a 2nd story to the house but to Extend that you need to right click then choose how big you want to extend it form that wall like 3x3 6x6 8x8 and so forth again. and maybe to get up to a 3 story building but can only extend the 2nd and 3rd as far as the First story Is.

You mean expanding a already built house, so you don't have to go and make another one?

Turning a Log Cabin into a Log Cottage is a neat idea for one...
It basically stacks a additional expansion on top of a Log Cabin, allowing you to build it more easily to expand.

It makes it wider, so basically adds about 3 rows of tiles to one side per expansion, and a Log Cabin can be expanded twice to have 1 expansion on both sides (excluding back)?

The cost of building an expansion is about 30% of a Log Cabin...

Monumental-level architecture has existed for thousands of years. I want to build a ziggurat or pyramid.

In any case, if we are assuming the game's time frame to be somewhere around the Iron Age or beyond, hillforts and stone keeps should certainly be appropriate, if not small castles. The Romans were building better fortifications in the region at about that time.

Wouldn't dislike the ability to put a few windows on a house...

Yeah, something like that, dra6o0n. But not only modules that increase the space available, I'd also like modules that add some functionality, like a chimney that lets you build ovens inside, or a pantry that serves as a bigger immobile cupboard for food only, stuff like that. The number of module slots should be limited, of course, so people don't just add all the modules onto all buildings, else we'd be back to completely uniform villages.

Not necessarily, the size an style would still differ. Also why the heck not just have one big building for yourself? Why oh why would a single person have 2 big ass houses when I can just make one bigger? It's just so... silly uggh!

(Traveling between houses it's also a huge friggin' pain in the ass for me, if it was between rooms never unloading he world that'd be pretty cool)
