Baking & Beverages

Postby Devour » Thu Jun 04, 2009 5:06 pm

Okay, two questions from me:
1. How long does it take for something to bake, on average?
2. How do we get wine out of our wine press?

Thanks in advance!

1) About ten real minutes, I believe. Honeybuns are a lot faster.

2) Right click on the press with a bucket, and you'll get a bucket full of grapejucie that you, presently, can do absolutely nothing with. :)

(Fun trivia: We actually introduced the winepress and the grapes so that we could make grape juice -> wine -> vinegar. Vinegar is needed when making cheese. A lot of the time development has happened like that. We've wanted to implement something, and then first have had to construct the entire underlying substructure of resources and production. All, of course, ultimately reducible to the stone axe: The first step towards civilization! :))

Thankyeh!

And, yep, that's perfectly understandable, even if us dwarves are disgustingly stone cold sober at the moment. ( Not much good for mining, you know? )

EDIT: Would it be possible to just have a chipped stone as a literal "hand axe"? That'd be excellent.

Oh man, you guys are going to implement cheese making? Throw in soap making as well, and I'll be able to be the most useless member of any village ;)

Also, we timed how long it takes for bread to take. First experiment, with ovens 1/3 full, it took 19 minutes. Second experiment, with full ovens, it took 11 minutes. Is this intended behaviour, or was that some server hiccup?

I took a different route, though the time was about what you came up with.

The oven holds 10 branches, and it seems to burn 1 branch each 'tick' - approx 6 mins.

So, honey buns cook in 1 tick, carrot cake cooks in 2 ticks, bread and apple pies in 3 ticks, and I haven't tried the raisin cakes yet...

Sound about right?

Neither. It is kind of a bug with the all the ovens; they don't work quite as they should. I am going to re-implement them. Hopefully soon.

Raisin butter cakes take two branches, just like carrot cakes.
