I'd just advise that you move. It's obvious that you're in a dispute over something, and it's just best to leave before there's bloodshed. Even if you do resolve it, you should still move because tensions will usually flare up again.

If you do wish for the situation to be solved peacefully, it is best to not see the other party as an adversary as you will be more oriented towards trying to get the upper hand, even if it is not your intent. If you take the right precaution, you can afford to be friendly. Have idle chat here and there to lighten the mood from the seriousness. It may not work all the time but will help with better resolution in this world.

It seems he just has an issue with me as a person (according to his villagers), nothing H&H related, and is looking for an avenue to cause drama for me. Seen as I enjoy this game he was hoping someone (like you offered) would do exactly that, just to "have one up".
Either way, I'm done, I got my stuff back.
My brother, and the other villagers (who live there) will still be on trading terms with me. Also for the record, I will be leaving the area once I have helped my brother & the others break down the palisade so they have the (tin) mine.
