I was discussing this thread with a few friends earlier, and I mentioned 2 q40+ pearls would buy a pair of thanes with 60 points to spare. It was mentioned that sodom has some kind of law in place on the use/trade of thanes. I don't frequent these forums much, but could someone kindly explain this in detail? Thank you in advance.

All the major villages got together to discuss the selling of thanes and forge rings. I was a commonly held belief that these should not be sold as they are rather powerful and generally cause more harm then good. So now none of the big factions will sell thanes.

It's not illegal to sell them or use them.
