Except said pop up box should raise the minimum constitution to 150.
Reaper, Reaper, that's what people call me! Why?
Cause they all die! When I sing, I end their lives
You act as though payback makes you a noble man
Is that a fact? Well, you're a goddamn Philistine!

with 100 con you can cross a river just fine. 40 con should be enough to get a few tiles out and go back. but really, i like jackard's suggestion better.

I don't know if he has. I have. Something will most likely be done about it at some point, but atm I don't want to make the game any more of a kindergarten than it already is. For the time being I think swimming serves as a healthy memento mori. But it was obviously better back in the days when you had to swim to cross rivers. Boats suck!
1. If you really want to keep a penalty for it, instead of killing have drowning apply Knockout and take some percentage of HHP plus all inventory/equipment. You wash ashore somewhere in rags. Also I hope the next world has larger shallows that you can sometimes ford, third world rivers are just ridiculous.
2. To make Swimming actually useful, have players start with the toggle and make the skill reduce stamina loss or increase swim speed to Walk, preferably the latter.
3. Ease up on the stamina drain so new players actually have time to react. (Read: panic) Have it gradually increase or something. A larger, more obvious UI element would help.
