That's why I usually don't accept party invites. I know they'll cause my client to freeze and me to log back in. My client locked up every 2-3 seconds. Once I left party, everything was fine without even restarting client. So, it probably had something to do with that.
Next time we have a large party going, I'll pay more attention to the LCache display.
