Most of the people who are accepted into Sodom apply while it's recruiting, and are known well enough to be good citizens.
If you have contacts in Sodom, it's good to let them know that you're applying so that they can tell Juhubert about how you're so kind and have 1000+ melee or whatever it is you have. I'm sure if your in-game character's name doesn't replace a lot of letters with numbers and you're sensible about applying, they'll give you a second glance...
