How long time does it take to kill a fox? First time I try, i've been slining rocks at it for an hour now. I hit one time of 5, the bar is about 20% filled since it won't increase more when the fox moves. Does 5-25 damage. It's a level IX fox. How much HP does it have? Does it regain HP over time?
sigh..

Re: Time to kill a fox
Foxes have Level*20 hitpoints, so your level 9 fox has 180 HP. It doesn't regain them unless a deer is near and heals it, you'd notice that by a swirling animation and a green number above the fox.
I'd highly suggest trying to get a better sling and putting some more points into marksmanship.

I completely agree, I am now farming 5 oxes with lvl 9 marksmanship, and i just killed one of them
so you should be cool, just put 3000 LP to marksmanship and that fox is dead.

Re: Time to kill a fox
get some unarmed and mm skill and a sling. make sure ur sling can hit high enough to make the fox flee. when the fox flees. run after him with jump.
just kidding
they run too fast ull lose all ur stamina before u can damage it. take a friend. u aggro the fox. ur friend puts signposts around it and have a nice kill.
just kidding

Re: Time to kill a fox
The three of you do realize that you're replying to a three year old thread?
It's Aurochs (sing or plural) or Aurochsen (plural) depending on who you ask. They're an extinct ancestor to the ox/musk ox
While you're guys suggestions aren't too far off base, there are better ways of doing it.
1: 3000 LP is only going to get a couple of points in MM at best (unless you're sitting at only 2 or 3). Add another 0 or at least double to triple that number so you can see some improvement in your accuracy/firing speed.
2: you can easily build a fox trap by yourself. Foxes won't break roundpole fences, so this works to box them in. If you're insistent on hunting from a boat, you can do the same thing, lure them into the fence, and when they do the twitchy thing, you can hop out real fast and close the fence. (Suggest having at least 10 UA for this, though, so if you're a bit slow, it'll take a few hits for the fox to break your defense.)
3: Best suggestion for killing foxes: get a good quality axe and learn how to kill them in melee with around 30-35 UA (note, you'll need most of the combat skills to do it easily). Practice somewhere you can make a quick escape like near a lake with a boat nearby or a house/cave. You'll soon be killing foxes faster than it takes to set up a fence and shoot it. (Care just needs to be taken so that you do spook the fox off in the middle of combat.)
