Well, every other crafting skill has at least one piece of equipment that improves the skill. Farming, for example, has the farmer's hat for skill increase and the scythe for the speed increase. Cooking has the chef's hat. Sewing, the thimble. It's not unreasonable that carpentry have a hammer or some other tool that would both increase the speed of crafting and the Carpentry skill value.

well maybe it needs a peice of wareable equipment to up the carpentry skill like the farming hat/thimbles/cooking hats. It should be a pair of pants that give you the classic - 'builders buttcrack'

What about a Wooden Taliman.. or ring.. That when worn increases your carpentry.. it's made from a block of wood, metal and a string(for Talisman)

It would if it didn't rely on carpentry to make. Why could the carpenter's hammer factor carpentry in when the chef's hat doesn't factor in cooking?
