By that logic, we should just remove scents altogether. Because hearth vaults make them more or less useless.Repercussionist wrote: If he doesn't meet you in battle, what have you got to worry about anyways? >.< It should be harder to break into a village than to defend one. I'll admit that I would like to more, and more advanced warfare, but I don't think this is the solution we need.
What does that even mean? The only appropriate response I can think of is "We need a slogan!".Guerilla defense. If you can't deal with it, stay off the field.

It means exactly what it means. If you don't have someone on around the clock to defend your ram, then sucks to be you - should have recruited people from more timezones.Potjeh wrote:What does that even mean? The difference is that you have to have people on the ram 24/7 to defend it, whereas with my suggestion the defender needs to log in just once. Even if you're in an inconvenient timezone, chances are you can still make it for just that one moment.

Unless you're not able to get to the computer.Potjeh wrote:The difference is that you have to have people on the ram 24/7 to defend it, whereas with my suggestion the defender needs to log in just once. The way it is is fine - if I can go out and break anything else that someone else has constructed, I see no plausible reason why I should not be able to go out and destroy a ram. Hell, if we're going to give out time limits for breaking shit, I want objects on claims to have immunity from the moment they're constructed until thirty minutes after the death of the owner of the claim, with the immunity to be reinstated once they create a descendant. If you're going to kill someone and destroy all of their shit, hey, you can wait around for that window of time before they respawn, right?
Long story short, this is a shitty idea.

Not a single person in a whole damn village can get to a computer at that specific time?
And basically, your main beef with this is that it's not realistic?
Also, please stop sassing me, it only undermines your argument.

Not unreasonable or impossible. In fact, more likely than you'd think, especially with smaller villages.Potjeh wrote:Not a single person in a whole damn village can get to a computer at that specific time?
Clearly you didn't read my last post. Please stare at Mr. Lennon until you realize that I clearly expressed that I dislike how inconsistent it is to give one type of construction immunity to destruction while permitting the rest to be completely destructible upon completion.Potjeh wrote:And basically, your main beef with this is that it's not realistic?
Methinks you need to pay Mr. Lennon another visit.Potjeh wrote:Also, please stop sassing me, it only undermines your argument.

Re: Invulnerable rams
Yeah, I guess it can happen to a small village, but odds aren't that high. However, you can get some allies of yours to help you out. If you don't have friends or allies, well, you should pack your things and head for the hills. Larger and better organized groups should almost always win, though the defenders should get some force multipliers from their defensive infrastructure (pour heated oil down your wall or something). Not unreasonable or impossible. In fact, more likely than you'd think, especially with smaller villages.
Kinda like how brick walls are immune to instant destruction? Should those be removed as well?Clearly you didn't read my last post. Just cut it out with the macros, they're a plague upon any forum.Methinks you need to pay Mr. Lennon another visit.

Re: Invulnerable rams
this would change absolutely nothing about siege warfare, other than instead of attackers walling in the ram, now it would be the defenders doing so.

As an added bonus, this solves grief-walling people's gates once and for all.Potjeh wrote:Walling and counterwalling does put a damper in my idea here, after all. Who was it that suggested walls should take time to dry? I think that could be the solution, if walls took longer to dry than rams it wouldn't be possible to cock-block an assault when you can't break the ram till it's dry.
