Make the happiness meter play an effect on a characters learning ability. Unhappy, less LP, happy, more LP.
Most task that players grind/macro are repetitive tasks that no player thats playing to be productive would do that much. Digging, making wickerbread baskets, stuff like that all already make you unhappy. Make that reduce the LP you gain
Task that should increase your happiness are farming (to a certain extent (maybe an upside down parabolic function to reduce people from making huge wheat fields just for the LP)), hunting, silk making, leather making, taming animals, productive stuff that takes more time and is not so repetitive.
Also, return previous LP values of tasks such as looms, digging, everything like that that was nerfed back to normal. Players doing these tasks normally should not be penalized for other players (like me) abusing it.
Thank you, I know I'm brilliant, I'll take a wizards cape.

Leather is repetitive and silk is as repetitive as it gets.
This wouldn't make the boring ass grind go away, anyways.
Maybe in world 5...

They are productive and require more effort then just building and lighting fires. I'm not saying the should be made awesome methods for gaining lp but they shouldnt be grouped in with the grindy tasks.Oddity wrote:Leather is repetitive and silk is as repetitive as it gets.

Also, the step where the lp for leather shouldn't be filling the tubs but removing the finished leather. That way you can't just grind lp by filling tanning tubs.

Seriously, they nerfed everything and gave no new means to get LP? Amazing, grinding is so fun, everyone loves it. Also, great timing, I just died yesterday.

What? I don't even... Are you making an argument, agreeing with what I'm saying, or what? I see really no content in your post that is in anyway relevant.Grelf wrote:Seriously, they nerfed everything and gave no new means to get LP? Amazing, grinding is so fun, everyone loves it. Nerfing LP was for everyone, the value of LP changed, 100 UA is the new 200 UA (not necessarily, just making an example).
No one is making you grind, you can enjoy the game without doing so.
Why the fuck would I care if you died?

You can't enjoy endgame properly without grinding 24/7. Unless you like being dominated by russians.rye130 wrote:What? I don't even... Re: Possible Fix to Grinding
The one issue I can see is hunting LP would be reduced for herd animals because your hearthling gets sad around carcasses (atleast mine does but I'm usually full Life/Peaceful). Also I think that what actions make your hearthling happy or unhappy should vary depending on your beliefs, instead of being a set "happiness factor" for the action.
But in general I like this idea of a gameplay usage for happiness, atleast if it wasn't too extreme (like a +25% LR happy -25% LR unhappy).

Hearthlings: Marona; Chamberlain (retainer alt), Vincavec (shaman of the Dryad Wells Forest)

That actually might be a good thing though as it would encourage more difference in people's beliefs. Also it could just be modified by jorbtar so that tasks deemed worthy of good LP and repetitiveness is not frowned upon since they are productive and not just used for grinding could give happiness. The tasks which are only done repetitively is for a grinding purpose should give unhappiness.AnnaC wrote:The one issue I can see is hunting LP would be reduced for herd animals because your hearthling gets sad around carcasses (atleast mine does but I'm usually full Life/Peaceful). And yes, I'd like it to be large enough to be noticeable and discourage grinding wickerbread baskets, but small enough so it wasn't entirely game changing.
